The coming eclipses are already affecting you and your relationships – here’s what to do

We always get a lot of people calling us who are under stress and having a difficult time. But the past few weeks have been unusually intense. In a meeting this week with my Angel Guides (the people who talk to each person and custom design their retreats), we talked about how things seems to be even more intense right now. One of my Angel Guides (who is also an astrologer) said – “it’s the eclipses – the effects are already showing up”.
I knew she was right and I immediately did some additional reading on it and let me just tell you – if everything feels to you like it’s going to hell in a hand basket right now, it’s not your fault! There are cosmic forces at work here and knowing just a little bit about it can help you not only weather it, but come through it better than ever.
Eclipses are times of great upheaval. They turn everything upside down and inside out. They upset the natural order. There are so many incredible historical things that have happened at the time of eclipses, but for the average person (like you and me), they tend to cause upheaval in our relationships — not only with partners, but with other important people in our lives and even with our relationship with ourselves. Underlying problems that already exist in your relationship (communication problems, mistrust, lack of connection, etc.) are brought up to be examined and healed. These problems will either be healed or they’ll continue to get worse.
There are 2 major eclipses that are happening in the next few weeks and they are of such huge import, that you are probably feeling the effects of them already. Let me explain.
The first one is a lunar eclipse on August 7. In a lunar eclipse, the earth comes between the sun and the moon. Lunar eclipses are designed to purge things from our lives that are no longer working. So from that standpoint they can be tremendously helpful. The problem is that most eclipses do things with a lot of upheaval, and most people don’t like change that is big and fast. So you have two choices here – you can ride the wave of change or you can resist it. Resistance usually causes even more violent, volcanic change.
This eclipse is in Aquarius, which means there will be laser focus on problems in our love relationships and friendships. You may even be thinking about throwing in the towel on your relationship. Remember that this eclipse is very emotion-driven. It may be best to wait to make life changing decisions until you’ve really had some time to sit and think. And definitely wait until the solar eclipse on August 21.
Because it’s the total solar eclipse of August 21 that is the one to get ready for. This is the first time since 1918 that a total solar eclipse is crossing over the United States, going from Oregon to Nebraska to South Carolina. Astronomers are calling this The Great American Solar Eclipse and many astrologers believe that this will affect people in the U.S. even more dramatically because it will pass directly over us.
In a Solar Eclipse, the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. Day turns to night. The temperature drops dramatically. You can see the stars sparkling in the sky. Can you imagine how this other-worldly event must have terrified the first humans who saw it?
People who have seen a solar eclipse have described it as one of the most incredible and spiritual experiences of their lives. I heard someone on NPR describing the experience about a month ago, and immediately decided “I need to do this”. It won’t be in the US again in my lifetime. So my fiancé, Richard, and I have booked our flights and hotel and we’re going to see it in St. Joseph, Missouri.
This is both a New Moon and a Solar Eclipse. New Moons are all about new beginnings. New Moons are always very impulsive and this one seems like it may be even more impulsive than usual. Because it is focused on relationships, we may feel the need to “throw the baby out with the bath water”, but wait until things settle down a little to make decisions like those.
Which takes me back to the beginning. We have so many people calling us right now who are thinking seriously of ditching their marriage. Or singles are calling us, saying they’re feeling disconnected and disjointed and at cross-purposes in their lives.
Here’s the good news — these eclipses will help you focus on all aspects of relationships (with a partner, other people close to you and yourself). You can see the intentions of others and discover imbalances which are causing disharmony. You can get more in touch with your own needs and make choices based on your highest and best interests.
So, while you may be feeling all kinds of upheaval, or feeling like you don’t know what to do, this is actually a very powerful time and you can utilize this energy to your advantage. This is a time when things can really be shaken up and changed. And definitely changed for the better, if you can use the energy to your highest good.
 
The most important thing is to do something. Problems that aren’t addressed during this time won’t go away, they will simply get worse. This is the Universe telling you it’s time to take action and do something.

This huge love we have for our pets and how we can use that in our lives [Plus cute pics]

Today is my dog Daisy’s birthday, she is 8 years old. She is a golden retriever/yellow lab mix and what an amazing blessing she has been in my life. Here she is at 5 weeks, what a cutie (and here she is with her brother and sister – is that adorable, or what?).
 
 
 
I went through my divorce one year after I got her, and she was such an incredible comfort to me. It was during that time that I first connected with my pet psychic here in Sedona. Our break up had been very sudden and Daisy kept sitting at the door, waiting for Tom to come home, it was heartbreaking to watch her. And then she got so sad, that she started peeing into one of my rugs from Egypt.
I made an appointment with the pet psychic, telling her I wanted her to talk with Daisy. Sharon does all her work over the phone and when she called me at the appointed time, she suddenly said, “do you have a cat?” I said yes, I have Katie Kat (here she is) and Sharon said “I thought you only had a dog, the cat keeps talking to me”. I told her I wanted her to talk to the dog and she said, “ok, except the cat keeps talking. What do you want me to ask the dog?” I explained about the break up, Daisy moping at the door and the peeing and I told Sharon, “Please tell Daisy Mommy and Daddy are getting a divorce. It’s not your fault, we both love you very much, but Daddy’s not coming back.” Sharon told her all this and Daisy said “I know — the cat told me!”
We comforted Daisy, she told us she was sad and peeing in the rug made her feel better, especially when she would smell it. Sharon spoke with her and after that, she never peed in the carpet again. She also stopped pining at the door.
The most important thing that happened during that conversation is that Daisy told me that she is part of my family, that she came here to be with me in this lifetime and even though she had originally been Tom’s dog (he found her, he trained her, he thought of her as “his” dog), she said all of this had been part of the Divine plan, she came here to be with me, especially through this difficult time of the divorce.
And what a huge part of my life she has been. She and her brother Boulder (who lives in Oak Creek Canyon with my dear friend (and practitioner) Ranjita) are just total love. When I look at them (Daisy is on the left), I get a real idea for how perfect our lives can be. Think about it: they are beautiful, strong, healthy, fun, amusing, funny, incredibly smart and just full of love. They love absolutely everybody. They want to be with everyone. They want to participate. They want to play. They are full of life.
 
 
 
 
 
And here’s sweet Katie Kat, who just turned 18 in April! She is beautiful, wise, quiet, calm, and incredibly loving. She snuggles with me each night on the cuddly blanket. Whenever I travel somewhere, she always jumps in the suitcase, trying to figure out how she can go with me (here she is in the suitcase).
 
 
 
And now because of my fiancé, Richard, I have two more beings in my life. Prancer will be 14 in 2 months and although he’s slowing down considerably and has some health issues, he is the sweetest, most gentle dog. Missy is a miniature Labradoodle (her original name was Macarena, but she told Sharon she actually prefers to be called Missy). She’s our little princess — she loves us so much and she wants to feel our love for her and she wants us to tell her how much we love her and how pretty she is. I just got her a pink collar with rhinestones, befitting her very feminine status.
 
 
 
 
We’ve done a few sessions with Sharon to make sure the family meshes in a wonderful way and they’ve been doing very well. Katie Kat is not happy that there are now 3 dogs in the house, but it’s been so fascinating to see (and to hear from Sharon) what they’re thinking and feeling. All the dogs know that Katie Kat is the “wise one” and they defer to her. Prancer and Missy were used to sleeping on the bed with Richard (and he thought it would be impossible and very unfair to try to keep them off the bed). We haven’t had to do anything — after a few nights of Katie Kat giving them “the hairy eyeball”, they all just stay off the bed.
In our last session with Sharon, they all talked about how much they love each other, how much they love Richard and I, and how happy they are to see the love between me and Richard.
Because that’s what they’re all about — love. And that’s why I feel it’s so wonderful for us to have our four-leggeds in our lives and for us to learn from them. They are the most perfect example of unconditional love we will every have.
Plus I get the extra added bonus of feeling a rush of love each and every time I pet them, or talk to them, or go for a hike with them — they are always uplifting.
And look how I’ve described all of them — beautiful, gentle, wise, calm, powerful, strong, fun, funny, sweet, gentle, they love absolutely everybody, they want to be with everyone, they want to participate, they want to play, they are full of life.
And I’ll add a few other ones – they are not judgmental, they don’t worry, they’re not self conscious. All of these little beings, each in their own way, demonstrates a very high level of self esteem, with no ego and no artifice.
Wouldn’t it be great to be like that? I have to say, I very often think of Daisy as a role model, especially when I feel worried. She never worries about anything — she knows she is totally taken care of in every moment. Here she is carrying a huge branch. She does this every time we go hiking, it’s like it’s her life purpose to find large logs and carry them through the forest. We often go hiking with my friend Susan and her wonderful dog, Sophie, and Susan calls Daisy “the branch manager”. Daisy is happily doing her appointed “work”.
All of these attributes come from having a strong inner core. A strong connection. Knowing that all is well. An inner peace that comes from living in connection. I believe these little beings are living that way. Are you?

For most of us, it means letting go of the blocks and gunk that are keeping us rooted in the past and fearful about the future. Our Fabulous Egypt trip Feb 11-25, 2018 – I'm limiting it to 19 people – book it now

Can you believe it? This next Egypt trip will be my 18th trip to Egypt!
My friends all say to me, “Debra, aren’t you over Egypt yet?” and the answer is NO!, I’m not. It’s amazing and incredible and new every single year.
So this is truly going to be our most amazing trip yet. Why? Because:
1. We’re staying at the fabulous 5 star Mena House, which is right next to the Pyramids. The Mena House is an historic, incredible hotel that is right next to the Pyramids and we were able to get it for this trip. It was originally built in the 1860’s as a hunting lodge for the British aristocracy, it’s such a phenomenal place. I stayed there in 1983 when I went to Egypt the first time and I’ve stayed there 5 times since then. I’m so excited to be there again.
2. The exchange rate is incredible, so shopping will be extraordinary. The exchange rate is an incredible 17 to 1 right now (17.99 specifically, meaning 17 Egyptian pounds to 1 US Dollar). In the past, the rate was usually 3 to 1, so this will make the shopping absolutely incredible, especially for things like hand made rugs and jewelry.
3. This trip is perfect. I’ve been doing this trip every year since 2004. Every year we make tweaks to it and I must say, that at this point (especially with the addition of the Mena House), it’s truly perfect. We see all the must see places, plus places the average tourist doesn’t see. Guardian Travel is always adding surprises, so it’s going to be amazing.
4. Seeing the Pyramids, Karnak, Abu Simbel and cruising the Nile in 5 star luxury. Seeing all these amazing places is so incredible. Staying in 5 star hotels and cruising down the Nile in a 5 star cruise ship, stopping at temples along the way, is simply amazing.
5. This is a spiritual experience unlike any other. If you feel a pull toward Egypt, that means Egypt is calling you and has something in store for you. The energy in Egypt is amazing and experiencing these places is phenomenal. I just had an email this morning from someone who was on the trip this past February and she said the ceremony inside the Great Pyramid (we have 2 hours of private time just for our group inside the Great Pyramid) completely changed her life. And from everything that’s happened to her in the past 6 months (all of it amazing and incredible), it obviously has! That’s what the Egypt trip does for you.
6. I think this is the last year there won’t be huge crowds in Egypt. Europeans have started going back to Egypt, we saw that in February in Karnak and Luxor. In the past, Egypt was difficult because there were so many people there and over the next few years, that will continue to increase. It’s such a joy to go there now and not have huge crowds of people, and I think this will be the last year for that — so go now!
7. Absolutely everything is taken care of for you. I’ve been working with Guardian Travel since 1995 and they are such a joy. They greet us warmly at the airport and after that we don’t touch another bag for 2 weeks. They take care of everything at the hotels, for all our transportation, slipping baksheesh (tips) to the guards so we can do a meditation in a temple, all the hundreds of details that make the trip so memorable.
8. Being with other like minded seekers adds such a wonderful level to the trip.
9. Don’t worry if you don’t have someone to travel with. Our groups usually fall in love with each other within 48 hours and make friendships that last a lifetime.
The big question that everyone asks is, “Is Egypt safe?” I have been going to Egypt since 1983. The Egyptian people are some of the nicest, friendliest, warmest people I have ever met and they love Americans.
I have been taking groups to Egypt each year for 12 years (since 2004). I have taken 6 groups since the revolution (the last one this past February, 2017) and these 6 trips have (in my opinion) been the best ones ever. There’s an excitement and a new feeling about the Egyptians that even having the beginnings of more freedom has brought to them.
I was just there in February and it was absolutely wonderful and we all felt completely safe at all times.

Insanity! Are you doing it and if so how do you change it?

I love this Einstein quote because it is so true. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result”.
In the past few weeks, I’ve connected with three different people who wished they had started their new life sooner. Two did a Sedona Soul Adventures couples retreat, the other one did an individual retreat.
In each situation, they all said, “I wish I had done this a long time ago”.
All three of them had contacted us 2-3 years ago. They knew they had problems and knew they needed help, but they all made the decision not to come because they felt that it was too expensive, they didn’t have the time and things “weren’t that bad”. When they contacted us this time, they knew they had to do something.
The couple (for privacy, let’s call them Sam and Diane), tried therapy and they both felt the therapy actually made things worse. They told me that each session only resulted in talking about what was wrong, with no emphasis on how to change it. They said their fights (and their sense of disconnection) just got worse and worse.
The other person (let’s call her Susan), tried going to a series of group workshops. She said she thought that the initial cost was going to be less expensive than a Soul Adventure, but that she actually spent as much as she ended up spending on her Soul Adventure. She said that she got some good information at the workshops, but nothing was done that actually changed things around for her.
Sam and Diane and Susan both kept doing the same things over and over again for those 2 years. Sam and Diane didn’t change anything about how they were dealing with each other as a couple. They tried some therapy but it didn’t change anything fundamentally.
Susan made an attempt to change things, but the things she tried didn’t change anything around.
For all three of them, things just kept getting worse and worse. Finally, they knew that had to do something.
I was worried for Sam and Diane because by the time they got here they both said they felt they were at the end of their marriage. When they had contacted us 3 years ago, they were unhappy and discontented – now things had gotten much worse and they both felt it might be hopeless.
I felt more hopeful for Susan, but she was at a point of despair and sometimes it can be hard to bring people out of that.
Luckily, their Angel Guides came through as they always do and put together perfect retreats for them. In their Emotional Clearing sessions, Sam and Diane both realized that underneath it all, they truly loved each other. In their breath work sessions, they connected with the Divine and that helped them connect with each other. They did an Enneagram session and realized for the first time the unique way they communicate with each other (which sometimes is great and sometimes causes all kinds of problems). They discovered the childhood wounds that were separating them and healed them.
As Sam said in their final Integration session, “Before our Soul Adventure, we were at the end of our marriage. Now, I know we can save our marriage.”
Susan had an ecstatic experience from day one. She said “each of the practitioners was incredible, they really “got” me”. In her Radiant Heart Healing session, she discovered that underlying everything was her belief that she was unlovable, brought on by years of rejection and criticism by her mother (who has now passed). She was able to let go of all that pain and hurt and she said “it felt like these huge bricks were lifted off my shoulders”. In her breath session, her mother’s spirit actually came to her and told her how much she loved her. She said she “cried and cried”, but they were “tears of joy”. She did a beautiful Letting Go Ceremony out on the land and said she felt like she completely let go of all of the energy that was holding her back. At her final Integration session, she said, “I was seeking my life’s purpose and wanting assurance I am on the right path. After my Soul Adventure, I have healed my inner child and I’m sure about the next chapter of my life”.
And that’s the difference with our retreats. They actually change things. They clear out the gunk and the emotional blocks that are holding you back from the life or the relationship that you’re craving. They bring you back into connection on all the levels — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. And when you’re operating in connection on all the levels — everything in your life becomes wonderful.
If you would want something different in your life or your relationship, you have to do something different. You have to make the decision you want something different, you have to spend the money, you need to take the time. It’s your life. It’s your relationship — how much is it worth to you?

Machu Picchu, Transformation and come with me next year!

It’s been another amazing tour of Machu Picchu and Peru. When you read this, I will just be returning home to Sedona.
Here we are on our first day at Sacsayhuaman. What an amazing place and one of the reasons I love it so much is that it reminds me of places in Egypt like the Great Pyramid and the Osirion. See those huge stones (and those aren’t the largest ones)? Just like those places in Egypt:

• no one can explain how they cut these stones with such laser precision
• no one knows how they were able to fit them together in such a way that they require no mortar or cement
• no one knows for sure what these places were used for
• no one knows for sure who built them

And just like Egypt, there are mummies here!
 
I love going to these amazing places, connecting with the energies and having incredible experiences.
And I’m so happy that my fiancé, Richard, came on the trip. This is his first time in Peru and Machu Picchu has been on his bucket list for many years. It’s so wonderful to be able to share this incredible experience with someone you love. And it’s even better when that person is into all the weird, interesting, spiritual stuff that I am
 
 
 
 
 
What a fabulous group has been on this trip! People from the US, Canada and the Ukraine. The woman who came from Canada had friends saying to her that she couldn’t go on a trip alone. She had never met me, she had never done a Sedona Soul Adventure and they kept telling her she shouldn’t go alone. So she got this adorable llama so she could tell her worried friends “I’m going with a friend”! She named it Dahna Llama and it became our group mascot.
And as usual, our group was in love with each other within 24 hours. There were only two couples on the trip, the rest were individuals (some married, some not). It’s one of the most wonderful parts of our trips, making friends that will last a lifetime.
 
 
We did so many incredible ceremonies while we were here. Ceremonies at Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo, the Sacred Valley, Aramu Muru and Sullustani. Here’s one of my favorite photos from the trip, taken at the top of Ollantaytambo.
This is such an amazing place. Many people (including some of those on this trip) feel that the energy at Ollantaytambo rivals that at Machu Picchu, it’s that strong and wonderful.
 
 
 
 
 
And of course we did a very special ceremony at Aramu Muru, the Doorway that was discovered by our amazing shaman, Jorge Luis Delgado. He tells the story of his quest for the Doorway in his book “Andean Awakening”. Jorge grew up on Lake Titicaca, but didn’t believe in any of the spiritual traditions that he teaches now. He became a very well known tour guide in Peru and then suddenly started having dreams about an inter dimensional doorway that was somewhere on Lake Titicaca. When he kept having the dreams, he went to the elders of his community and they told him it was his life purpose to find the Doorway. That’s what he did and he recounts the story in his book. Here is Jorge and I doing ceremony at the Doorway.
Peru is an incredible place. Not just Machu Picchu, but all the amazing places that we visit. To be able to do this with Jorge Luis, to have his teachings and to be in his presence is such a gift. To be able to do it while having fun with other like minded adventurers really makes it the trip of a lifetime.
