Kelly says her Soul Adventure “surpassed all my expectations” and
was “worth every penny.”

“Sedona Soul Adventures surpassed all my expectations. The practitioners are deeply committed, knowledgeable, and caring. I felt like l had the best possible experts all working together to help me find and focus on my ‘true’ self. I have a tool box that I can use when faced with challenges and am better able to recognize triggers and instead of reacting, I’m able to reconnect with my inner voice and follow a path that is informed by love, instead of ego or fear. Worth every penny, and I plan to go back again for a refresher and/or to continue my development.”
~ Kelly R., Chicago, Illinois

In these series of videos I’m talking about concepts from my book, The Journey to Happy– How Embracing the Concept that Nothing is wrong can transform your life…with processes that can help you feel a lot happier right away.

And most of the time when I’m doing these videos, I’m talking to you about very heavy issues – and today I want to do something a little bit different.

I have a list of what I call, “My Favorite Spiritual Movies” and I’m going to be talking to you about them today and into the future for two reasons:

  1. They have messages that are really amazing, wonderful and helpful.
  2. Watching a movie can very often immediately make you feel better.

One of the things that I talk about a lot in my book is that when you start to feel yourself beginning to slip and just starting to not feel great, do something – anything – to start making yourself feel better… like listening to music, petting your dog or your cat, or watching a movie that makes you laugh or simply feel good.

So here’s one of these movies for me: “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray. Have you seen this movie? Your first reaction might be, “This is a spiritual movie?” Because it is very, very funny, very irreverent; it’s Bill Murray at his best. But yes, I want to assure you it’s definitely at the top of my list of the top 10 spiritual movies of all time.

And you may not know the backstory of this – that it was written and directed by Harold Ramis, a Buddhist (he passed a few years ago), and this movie is all about consciousness. It’s all about how we perceive things and how everything can shift in an instant.

So if you’ve never seen it, watch it. And if you’ve never watched it from this perspective, definitely watch it again and you’ll see what I mean.

In the movie, Phil, played by Bill Murray, is reliving the same day (Groundhog Day) over and over again. He plays a weatherman who is covering whether or not the groundhog sees his shadow. He is stuck in his own personal hell with himself – he’s selfish, egotistical, shallow and doesn’t care about anyone other than himself.

Worse, he can’t get out of it and he can’t get away from himself. He even tells us that he hates himself.

He’s completely stuck.

And when he figures out what’s happening, that he’s reliving the same day over and over again, he goes through anger, frustration, manipulation, depression and even suicide (which doesn’t work) until something changes. He falls in love and begins to live his life from a completely different perspective; in that instant, his life changes.

It’s such an incredible parable:

When we start allowing what is, our life transforms.

When we love with no expectation or demands, we get exactly what we want.

We can transform from living in hell, to living in Heaven on Earth. It’s our choice and it just takes an instant.

Do you sometimes feel like you’re living in a kind of hell?

Do you feel like there’s nothing you can do about  it?

Well, I’m here to tell you there is something you can do about it. Your life can be transformed if you’re willing to take responsibility for your life and your creations. The way you perceive the world and the way you move in the world can be changed in an instant. I see it all the time and it is truly miraculous.

It’s all about moving out the gunk and the blocks that are holding you in disconnection and then moving you back into connection on all the levels:

  • Physical
  • Mental
  • Mmotional
  • Spiritual.

The specific ways are different for each person. That’s why our custom-designed retreats are so powerful and effective.

So call us – connect with one of our Angel Guides and let them design a retreat that can bring you back into Heaven on Earth.

Are You Focusing on the Right Thing?

In my last video, I spoke with you about the idea that the first 90 minutes of your day are the most important. Studies have shown that’s when you are most productive, you have the most focus, and you have the highest level of energy and the highest level of will power.

Today I want to talk to you about what to do in the first 90 minutes of your Work. And the point of all of this is about FOCUS.

Watch my video to get some really surprising information about how important focus is. And if you have trouble staying focused, you’ll really want to watch this:

If you’re having trouble staying focused, let us help you with that. Let us clear out the gunk so that you feel more connected and focused. Connect with us and we’ll custom design a retreat that’s perfect for you.

Or if you’d prefer, call us toll-free at 1-877-204-3664 (US and Canada). For our friends outside the US and Canada, call 01 928-204-5988 or click here and one of our Retreat Guides will call you.

Carol (a therapist) came to us and says, “After my Soul Adventure, I have remained centered, focused, loving, open and giving with a clarity that I never had before. My husband said he sees a ‘new woman.’”

“After my Soul Adventure, I returned home feeling truly renewed. Though ‘life’ continues to twirl with a vengeance around me, I have remained centered, focused, loving, open and giving with a clarity that I never had before. My husband said he sees a ‘new woman.’  I clearly have ‘new tools’ for both my therapy practice and my life. My wish is that both my husband and I will return and experience Soul Adventures together. Until then…”
~ Carol H.

I spoke with you in my last video about the idea that the first 90 minutes of your day are the most important. Studies have shown that’s when you are most productive, you have the most focus, and you have the highest level of energy and the highest level of will power. And I spoke with you about things you can be doing in those first 90 minutes to set the tone for the rest of the day, which is really about setting the tone for the rest of your life.

If you want to set the tone, here are the suggestions I gave you in the last video:

  • HeartMath Heart Coherence Technique (if you don’t know what that is, Google it; its effects are sort of astounding)
  • Meditation
  • Exercise
  • Write in Your Journal
  • Do a Gratitude Journal
  • Read Inspirational Books
  • Plan Your Day
  • Drink Water (with lemon)

Today I want to talk to you about what to do in the first 90 minutes of your Work.

Depending on the kind of work you do, you may not have total flexibility with this, but if you do, this can be magical.

The point of all of this, is FOCUS.

Most thought leaders these days are in agreement that FOCUS is the most important thing we need in our lives – that it’s even more important than intelligence and creativity

Did you really rear that?

Yes. Most people agree and studies have shown that focus can be even more important than intelligence and creativity.

When we’re unfocused, we’re scattered, we’re adrift and the worst part is, we feel like we are never accomplishing anything. It’s a terrible feeling.

So let me ask you – What do you do with the first 90 minutes of your work day?

Hopefully you’ve started the first 90 minutes of the day with meditation, gratitude and exercise, but what do you do next?

Do you have a process for keeping yourself focused?

Are you prone to distraction throughout the day?

Do you…

  • Check your email, texts and other social media constantly? (Do you have special dings for notifications? — That will definitely make you distracted).
  • Do you spend a lot of time on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram?
  • Do you spend a lot of time on YouTube watching videos of cute kittens and puppies?

Don’t get me wrong, videos of cute kittens and puppies and laughing babies make me happy. And I’m not perfect in this area — it’s so easy for me to get distracted. All of a sudden I’ll get a notification of something on Facebook. I’ll go to check that and then on the sidebar I’ll see that some celebrity has done something outrageous and then I’ll give myself a guilty pleasure and click on that… and then on the sidebar there’s some YouTube video that sounds especially interesting and uplifting, so I’ll click on that, until I finally Stop!

And this is the big reason why you have to stop this:

Studies have shown that it takes 21 minutes(!) to really get back into what you were doing. So think about it, if you let yourself get distracted 6 times during the day, that’s over 2 hours that it takes to really get you back into what you were doing.

I’m not saying don’t go on Facebook anymore, but honestly, does it really help you that much? And I’m not saying don’t go on YouTube — there are lots and lots of inspiring videos on YouTube. What I am saying is that living your life with FOCUS will make you feel better. It will make every area of your life feel better.

So let me ask you:

Do you feel unfocused?
Do you feel scattered?
Does your mind race while you lie in bed trying to get to sleep?
Do you feel anxious?
Do you constantly feel like you should be doing more and more?

What I’ve found in these 17 years of working with people here, is that these feelings are usually on top of something deeper. When we find those, clear them and come back into connection, everything changes.

Let us help you with that. Let us clear out the gunk so that you feel more connected and focused. Connect with us and we’ll custom design a retreat that’s perfect for you.

I hope this helped, and if you got value from this video, please take the time to like it, share it with someone in your life who think might get something out of it, subscribe to our channel.

Stop Wasting the Most Important Part of Your Life

If you’ve been reading my newsletter for awhile, you know I’m all about how to make your life better and happier.

Do you know the secret that the first 90 minutes of your day are the most important? It determines everything. It sets the tone for your day and it actually sets the tone for your entire life.

Watch my video and get some great ideas about how to have the first 90 minutes of your day make the rest of your day really great.

And if you really want to take your life to the next level, think about doing a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat. We want you to be living in connection with the happiness, joy and peace that are your birthright, every day. Call us.

Robin says Sedona Soul Adventures “gave me my life back”

“Sedona Soul Adventures changed my life. I walk tall with clarity and knowing now where I once sat still with grief and fear. I am so grateful to all the practitioners, you will all be in my heart and part of my soul.

Thank you Soul Adventures for giving me my life back. I know I have the tools to continue to live, love and laugh.” ~ Robin S.

I’m always on the lookout for things that can make my life and your life more happy, and I came across three things this week about the same topic… and when I come across something three times, that means I need to talk to you about it.

So this is the idea — The first 90 minutes of your day are the most important. That’s when you are most productive, you have the most focus, you have the highest levels of energy and willpower.

If you want to set the tone for the rest of the day, which, of course, is really about setting the tone for the rest of your life, look at what you’re doing in the first 90 minutes.

The first thing to figure out here is, “What do I want during the rest of my day? What do I want to make me happy? What do I want that will make me feel really good?

Take a few minutes to actually sit and be quiet with yourself and think about this, because very often, people just assume it means they should be lifting weights, running a mile and meditating for an hour, but don’t just make automatic assumptions.

When we do surveys each year asking people what they want in their lives, I used to be surprised that the #1 answer every single year was “Peace.”

Is that what you want? If so, ask yourself some questions about that:

  • What exactly do you mean by that?
  • What exactly would that look like?
  • What would be required for you to have the Peace that you want?
  • Does it involve settling something with another person or do you maybe just want some quiet time?

When you start asking the questions, it’s interesting to discover the answers you get.

Many people who want peace find that meditation regularly brings them enormous peace. I know that in my own life, that has turned out to be so true. I meditate first thing every morning and that has changed my life.

If you Google it, you’ll find that many, many successful people, including people like Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen Degeneres, mediate every single day.

Whenever I’m evaluating anything, I generally look at it on all levels – physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. When I look at what to do with my first 90 minutes of the day, I know that doing something that affects me on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels will be of most benefit.

Meditation works on all of those levels – studies have shown that it brings down blood pressure, cortisol, reduces stress and it just makes me feel better mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Lots of people like to use the early morning hours for working with their physical body. Running, stretching, doing some type of exercise… I know for myself, if I don’t do it in the morning, it generally doesn’t get done. Studies are showing that even 20 minutes of exercise can have huge benefits on our physical bodies, and don’t you find that when you exercise, you actually feel better emotionally and your mind is sharper?

But maybe the way for you to find peace is simply to be quiet. That can definitely be true for a busy caregiver or mom or dad, it might be having some time on your own with some quiet.

The great part is, this is time that you have complete control over; it’s time that can belong to you. And if you’re now saying, “Wait a minute Debra, my kids are up at 6, I can’t have time to myself,” the correct answer is, Yes you can.

One of the three things that showed up this week was I reminded of the before 5 am website, whose founder believes that your most important things need to happen before 5 am. And while I’m not saying that everyone has to get up at 4 am, what I am saying is that you can have absolute control over these precious hours if you make the commitment to do that.

So you just have to do the math. If everyone in your house is up and going at 7 am, you would need to get up at 5:30 am to have your precious 90 minutes to yourself. And I can hear some of you out there saying, “5:30, I can’t get up at 5:30.” And my answer is: then I guess it’s not worth it to you.

So what is worth it? Maybe don’t do 90 minutes – start with 30 minutes and see what happens. Just meditating for 15 minutes and exercising for 15 minutes can work wonders. What matters the most to you? Look at your list and figure it out.

And maybe you’re a person who absolutely cannot get up that early and it will not work for you. Okay, I get it, but is there some other time during the day you can carve out just for yourself?

For most people, they’re too tired in the evening and it’s impossible during the day. It’s those morning hours when things are quiet that the magic can happen, but if morning doesn’t work for you, find the time that does.

If you want to change your life, do something that’s going to be really effective. Start out with 30 minutes, get up before everyone else, do the things that will impact the list you made.

Every morning I start with a few minutes of the HeartMath Heart Coherence Technique. If you don’t know what that is, Google it, its effects are astounding and it just takes a few minutes.

Here are some additional ideas and things that will continue to come to you as you do this practice:

  • Meditation
  • Exercise
  • Write in Your Journal
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal
  • Read Inspirational Books
  • Plan Your Day
  • Drink Water with Lemon (I squeeze the juice of one lemon into my first glass of water first thing in the morning.)

And for me the most important one is: Snuggle with Your Beloved

My husband and I snuggle every night before we go to sleep and every morning before we wake up. We are both in agreement that it’s one of the most important and wonderful parts of our relationship. And that’s what all of this is about.

What works for you? What makes you happy? What will get you going?

And one final note – but almost the most important – is what NOT to do. Stay away from:

  • Email
  • Voicemail
  • Texts
  • Social Media

Just focus on you and what you need. Do it for 30 days and see what happens, then let me know what you experienced.

And watch for my next video, where I’m going to talk about the most important things to do at the beginning of your work day. It’s all about FOCUS.

I hope this helped, and if you got value from this video, please take the time to like it, share it with someone in your life who think might get something out of it, subscribe to our channel.

Sexual Abuse

Have you or anyone you know been a victim of sexual abuse or assault?

I’m asking because I’m so stunned by the sheer numbers of people that come to our retreats who have this as something that happened to them. And so saddened by the fact that this haunts them throughout their lives.

It’s happened to both men and women, sometimes when they were very young, and almost none of them told anyone about it.

So the terrible parts for this, for me, in addition to what happened, is then what happens after that.

I’m amazed at the number of stories I’ve been told of people telling their parent, usually their mother, and not being believed.

Or worse, being blamed that they somehow brought this on themselves.

And then the number of people who somehow blame themselves for what happened. Especially teenagers or people who were on a date and because they were being friendly or because they had something to drink, they’re blaming themselves.

And it’s people from every walk of life – every ethnicity, male, female, upper class, middle class, lower class – it’s so pervasive that I actually feel it is a type of epidemic.

I was reading recently that when Freud did his initial work, he was working primarily with women in the upper class of Vienna and he was discovering that huge numbers of them were saying that they had been sexually abused by a family member, usually a father or a brother. When he first started talking about it, there was such an uproar, that he changed his analysis. He started talking about it as though the women had made it up, that they were “hysterical.”

And the worst part is the cover up. The person tells someone, they’re not believed and so they shut up about it. And then they carry it with them, this huge weight that is dragging them down.

And then here’s another worst part, (I keep saying this is the worst part, because there’s so many terrible parts to this), it gets twisted into this terrible belief that they take on that this happened because there’s something wrong with them. Or now that it happened, there’s something wrong with them.

And then, like I said, they carry it around.

We’ve had people come to us where this happened over 40 years ago and they’re still suffering, or 30 years ago, or 20 years ago, and they still feel it like a scar, like a wound.

If this is something that has happened to you or someone you deeply care about, I want to reach out to you to lay this burden down. This pain doesn’t need to be carried around any longer.

This energy can be released and you can come back into connection on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Because it affects people on those levels.

  • Some people don’t physically enjoy sex any longer because of the abuse, or it’s painful for them, either physically or emotionally.
  • The emotional pain typically shows up in feelings of inadequacy.
  • The mental part is all the thoughts racing in your head of “there’s something wrong with me,” “this is my fault,” “I’ll never get over this,” “my life is ruined.”
  • The spiritual part shows up in different ways. The spiritual aspect is about beliefs, so you take on those untrue thoughts that there’s something wrong with you. But on an even deeper level, we’ve found many people who have lost their faith, in that “how could God let something like this happen to me?” It’s especially insidious when it’s been a father, because for a young child, the father can represent God.

We have helped so many people who have had this happen to them. If this is something that is still haunting you or someone you deeply care about, please call us and let us help.

Call and speak with one of our Angel Guides. For some people, this is the hardest part, speaking about it, sometimes for the very first time. Our Angel Guides, are incredible, they are so compassionate and caring, you’ll feel better just having spoken with them. And it’s so freeing to finally talk about it with someone who cares.

When they speak with you, they’ll tune it and determine exactly how the impact of this is showing up for you, because it’s different for everyone. Some people are depressed, some people are angry, some people are ashamed. For some, it has greatly impacted their relationships, for others, it has greatly impacted their feelings of empowerment or inadequacy, for some, it has even impacted how they show up in the world. And it can definitely impact how you are as a partner and as a parent.

However it’s showing up for you, they’ll get to the root of it and put together a retreat of private sessions designed to move out the old, hurtful energy and moving you into connection on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Julianne says that after her Soul Adventure she feels happier, enlightened and TALLER! “I was freed from this shame I have carried through my life.”

“I was totally meant to go to Sedona. It is a magical place with incredible people. During my retreat, I felt myself change, a warm yellow light grew from inside of me. By my last day, I felt taller, happier, enlightened, I felt I finally awoke that wonderful, beautiful spirit deep inside of me that was afraid to come out. I was freed from this shame I have carried through my life. I wish for every human person to go through an experience like mine, it was worth every penny. I will go back to Sedona without a doubt.”
~ Julianne V., Ottawa, Canada

I love it so much that Julianne’s retreat helped her so deeply and isn’t it sweet, she says her Soul Adventure made her feel TALLER! That’s a new one.

But that’s exactly what happens. Shame (or depression or feeling “less than,” etc.) does that to you. It makes you feel smaller. It makes you feel less than. When those blocks are gone and that “wonderful beautiful spirit deep inside of you” comes through, you’re suddenly lighter and happier, and that literally makes you stand up taller! It’s so amazing.
