Would You Like to Become a Transformational Soul Coach?

I’ve been a coach for over 20 years and it has been such an incredibly rewarding part of my life.

We did our first Transformational Soul Coach Certification Training this year and it was such a phenomenal, incredible success that we’re offering it again.

If you think you might enjoy being a coach (or if you’re a coach that would like to expand into new and better ways to help your clients create lives of passion, purpose, and meaning), read on…

This Training could change your life!

I went through training as a traditional life coach back in 2001 and found it very deficient for what I was trying to do with people, so I just kept adding my own stuff! I was starting Sedona Soul Adventures at the same time, so incorporating the two things just made so much sense. Working with my Intuition, helping my clients open up to their Intuition and focusing on their energy and how they were feeling, rather than focusing only on goals and to-do lists, etc.

I started calling what I was doing Transformational Life Coaching (long before anyone else was using that term) and I found that when I helped my clients stay in a really high vibration, incredible things happened – they discovered their life purpose and started living it, they doubled their income, they lost 100 pounds (and kept it off), their relationships with their spouses (and everyone else) got better. The results were almost unbelievable!

Someone would start off with a particular problem, but inevitably every single part of their life would get better, because that’s how it works. When we address the issues that are causing us problems, every part of our life gets better.

Have you dreamed of becoming a coach?

If so, our incredible Transformational Soul Coach Certification Training is for you!

Or you might already be an established coach and you want to bring your practice to a new level and help your clients in even more incredible ways.

Get all the information here.

What’s the difference between traditional coaching and Transformational Soul Coaching?

While both forms are focused on personal growth, traditional coaching is very directional, primarily focused on identifying and achieving explicit goals in various areas of your life—career, time management, relationships—providing a clear roadmap for the ‘how’ to transition from current circumstances to desired realities.

Transformational Soul Coaching goes far beyond that. While it includes all the elements of traditional life coaching, it goes beyond goals and timelines into an exploration and unfolding of the Self. Transformational Soul Coaching fosters an internal alchemy, where spiritual ideas, self-acceptance, and emotional connection take center stage and come together in an incredible way. It’s about nurturing the soul’s evolution, leading to profound shifts in identity, perspective, and purpose, casting a luminous trail of inner wisdom on one’s life path.

We find that with Transformational Soul Coaching, our clients achieve their dreams more quickly and easily than with traditional life coaching!

In our Transformational Soul Coach Certification Training, we teach you to utilize all the methods of traditional life coaching, but you’ll go far beyond that — we’ll also teach you skills, processes, modalities, and ways to connect with the Highest part of yourself (and your clients).

Our Transformational Soul Coach Certification Training

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a seismic shift in how people are approaching their lives, their work, and their relationships. Many people are saying to themselves, “Life is short. I want to find my life purpose and start living it. I want my work to have meaning.”

Coaching is a billion-dollar industry

$15 billion worldwide and over $1.02 billion in the United States (a 30% increase over the past five years). According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), life coaching specifically is the second fastest growing industry in the U.S.

Why? We are in a cultural shift where more people are embracing the idea that we all have a life purpose – and that we’re called to live our lives in ways that align with our authentic selves and highest truths.

One of the things I’ve loved so much about coaching is in addition to the deep satisfaction of helping people live their best lives, you also have so much freedom in how you work. You can work from anywhere and set your own hours. It’s so liberating from the 9 to 5 grind.

If this is intriguing to you, get all the information here.

This is going to be an amazing, incredible 25 weeks of LIVE TRAINING (I don’t know about you, but I’m really sick of paying for a training and then discovering it’s all pre-recorded and you have no interaction with the instructor).

Our fabulous and incredible (I know I use those words too much) Rick Reynolds will be doing the training and certification and it’s just going to be so fantastic. Rick is a fantastic coach (he’s coached over 1300 of our SSA grads) and his wealth of information and ability to transmit it is just superb. And you will be working LIVE with Rick in each one of the sessions.

The Transformational Soul Coach Certification Training is for:

  • People who are brand-new to coaching and need to learn the fundamentals
  • Emerging coaches who want to grow their part-time businesses into a full-time vocation
  • Established coaches who seek new and better ways to help clients create lives of passion, purpose and meaning

Learn more about this innovative program here.

We start January 20 and end on July 6, 2024.
The classes will be each Saturday from 1 pm -3 pm ET, 10 am – 12 pm PT

We are restricting the number of people who can participate, so act now. Get all the information and sign up here.

This could be the beginning of an exciting and transformational new chapter in your life and in the lives of all that you’ll serve. I hope you’ll join us!

The best Thanksgiving leftover – gratitude

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

I had the most wonderful thing happen this week. I went for a wonderful hike here in beautiful Sedona with my husband and our two Doodles and I was just so overcome by all the things I'm grateful for, I sat down and started writing a list.

I started with my wonderful husband, Richard, our two Doodles, Missy and Beauregard, my family and friends, Sedona Soul Adventures and my amazing people who work with me, Sedona itself and the energy, and my parents and other beloveds (human and 4 legged) who are no longer with us and within a few minutes, I was just weeping. These beautiful tears of gratitude for having all of these amazing people (and four leggeds) in my life.

I wrote down that I was grateful for being able to feel all these feelings so deeply.

I then wrote about things about our environment, our house, the incredible view, my beautiful backyard, and all the things I have in the house from my travels that I just absolutely love that make me feel so incredible every time I look at them (like my Quan Yin statue from Bali, my Isis papyrus from Egypt, this incredible vase from Peru, and beautiful jewelry from all these places).

And then I started weeping again at how I'm so glad I don't have to be a lawyer anymore and I get to do this work and go to these places and connect with so many people who are yearning to live their lives connected to Spirit and the highest part of themselves.

I realized I was having what my teacher Abraham calls a "rampage of appreciation." It made me think of the amazing teachers I've had over the years, all the books I've read that have helped me so much, and all the amazing sessions I've had over 21 (!) years in Sedona and oh my Goddess, there is nothing like this feeling of Gratitude.

So I invite you to go on a rampage of appreciation. If you didn’t do it on Thanksgiving, do it now. Just take a moment to close your eyes and start thinking about everything, absolutely everything, that you appreciate. It's so amazing how the good things outweigh the 'bad' so overwhelmingly. And as one of my teachers says, the fastest way to bring more into your life is to appreciate what's already here.

If you are feeling like there are things in your life that are causing you problems or pain or holding you back in some way, I invite you to go into Gratitude about the parts of your life that ARE working. And I promise you, there are large parts of your life that are working.

If you are feeling like there are huge parts of your life that are not working, then I want to invite you again to come to Sedona and do a Soul Adventure.

Gratitude Journal

My life completely changed after I came to Sedona for the first time 24 years ago and I will be eternally grateful for that.

When I came in January of 1999, I was so unhappy, hated my work, was 40 pounds overweight, $50,000 in debt, and in an unhappy marriage…pretty much every area of my life felt like it was messed up. While I was here in Sedona, I "got it" that I had to change my life.

Within 2 weeks, $50,000 had dropped out of the sky and since that time I've gone from a size 14 to a size 6 (and eat and drink whatever I want, whenever I want), I found and married the man of my dreams, and am now doing work that I love that has helped thousands of people (including myself!).

I received this beautiful message from a woman about her Soul Adventure:

"Words cannot express how much I needed this, I got way more than I anticipated, and feel so blessed to have valued myself enough to give myself the gift of this healing. Thank you. I feel like a new woman, strong, centered, and able to take on whatever comes my way. Forever grateful, Shanita."

We are here to live lives of joy and happiness and if that's not happening for you, please don't wait a minute longer to do something about it. Set up a time to speak to a Soul Guide, or call us -- (928) 204-5988. If you knew what could happen, you'd be calling right now.

Go Here if you'd like to read more from some of the thousands of people whose lives and relationships have been forever transformed by doing a Sedona Soul Adventure.

I am so grateful to have you in my life!

The Importance of Retreats in Life Transformation

Introduction: The Transformative Power of Retreats in Life Transformation

As a society – and as individuals – we are constantly going through the motions. It’s hard to take the time to look at your life from a holistic perspective when you’re constantly working, navigating social interactions and attempting to make time for hobbies and other activities you enjoy.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to break from a chaotic cycle and work on inner healing, you may consider going on a life transformation retreat. It’s a way to connect with nature, work on personal growth and facilitate a strong transformation.

So what’s a life transformation retreat, and what are its benefits? We’ll cover everything you need to know in this blog.

Why Everyone Should Consider Going on a Life Transformation Retreat

The hustle of everyday life can sometimes be overwhelming. A retreat provides a welcome pause, a serene space where one can delve into the depths of the soul. A moment of solitude, away from the incessant noise, can lead to profound life transformation.

Whether you’re a staff member of a booming enterprise or a high school teacher navigating the intricacies of adolescent minds, retreats offer a sanctuary—a place of clarity and transformation. Sedona Soul Adventures’ retreats cater not just to individuals but also to couples, crafting a unique experience for every soul.

What does a retreat do to a person?

At the heart of every retreat lies spirituality and the quest for self-discovery. Whether it’s a corporate retreat aimed at team-building or a spiritual journey at a retreat center, the core objective remains the same: life transformation. Away from the mundane tasks of everyday life, in the tranquil embrace of a retreat, even a hard-nosed staff member can find peace and purpose.

What Is a Retreat and why is it important?

A retreat, at its core, is a sacred space away from the daily grind—a sanctuary where one can immerse in reflection, meditation, and spiritual nourishment.

While company retreats focus on fostering team spirit, personal retreats like those at Sedona Soul Adventures are tailored for individuals and couples, leading them on a journey of life transformation. The essence of a retreat center lies in its ability to offer a serene environment, conducive for introspection and growth.

What Is the Best Part About a Retreat?

While many rave about the picturesque landscapes or the gourmet food at a retreat center, the real magic is the life transformation that unfolds within. It’s the insights gained during those quiet moments, the bonds formed with fellow seekers, and the sheer joy of connecting with one’s inner self. Staff retreats, corporate retreats, or spiritual retreats—all share this common thread of discovery and transformation. And for those who choose Sedona Soul Adventures, it’s the privilege of walking this path with Sedona’s Master Practitioners, ensuring every step resonates with purpose and passion.

Benefits of Going on a Retreat for Life Transformation

In the contemporary world, amidst the ceaseless rhythm of our daily life, moments of genuine self-reflection are scarce. But there’s an oasis amidst this bustle, a haven where souls, fatigued from the incessant demands of modernity, find solace. This sanctuary is the spiritual retreat. Whether it’s a yoga retreat, a wellness retreat, or a healing retreat, the ultimate gift it bestows upon attendees is a profound life transformation.

So, what exactly precipitates this metamorphosis during a retreat? Unlike the short-lived euphoria one might derive from a vacation, a retreat experience has enduring benefits that permeate deep into the soul. At the core, it’s about introspection. In a silent retreat, for instance, you’re offered the gift of quietude, allowing your inner voice to rise above the cacophonies of external distractions. You can engage in a dialogue with your inner self, possibly for the first time in years, and emerge with rejuvenated clarity and purpose.

This is particularly salient in womens retreats and mens retreats. Both men and women, albeit in different ways, face the pressures and expectations of society. Such retreats provide a nurturing environment where they can shed these external layers, confront deeply ingrained notions, and redefine their identities beyond societal impositions.

Yet, the beauty of these retreats, especially those orchestrated by Sedona Soul Adventures, is their customization. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual, these retreats aren’t one-size-fits-all. They’re intimately tailored, ensuring every participant’s journey is uniquely theirs, resonating with their personal aspirations and challenges. This personal touch ensures that the transformation experienced is both profound and enduring.

And transformation isn’t confined to mental or spiritual realms. Physical rejuvenation is also at the forefront, especially in wellness retreats. Here, participants often find a harmonious blend of physical activities, nutritious diets, and holistic therapies, all converging to detoxify the body, invigorate the spirit, and sharpen the mind.

For some, it’s the healing retreats that beckon. Life, with its unpredictable twists and turns, sometimes leaves wounds – some visible, many invisible. These retreats offer a sanctuary for souls to confront and understand their pain, embark on a healing journey, and emerge not as broken beings, but as warriors adorned with scars that testify to their resilience.

Of course, the brilliance of such transformation is amplified when conducted under the watchful eyes of Sedona’s Master Practitioners. Their intuitive wisdom, coupled with their spiritual insights, ensures that every retreat experience becomes a crucible for life transformation. The individualized sessions, be it 1-on-1 or 2-on-1, provide a safe space for attendees to confront their vulnerabilities, fears, dreams, and aspirations.

But how does this translate to one’s daily life? Profoundly. Armed with newfound insights, tools, and perspectives, attendees often find themselves better equipped to navigate the intricacies of life. The chaos that once seemed overwhelming now appears manageable. Situations that were triggers become lessons. Relationships, once strained, start to heal. The inner turmoil gives way to inner peace, and life, once a mere existence, transforms into a purpose-driven journey.

In essence, the outcome of a spiritual retreat isn’t just about finding solace for a few days. It’s about rediscovering oneself, realigning with one’s purpose, and returning to the world with a revitalized spirit, ready to embrace life with all its beauty and challenges. Such is the magic of a retreat, and such is the promise of life transformation.

Best Types of Retreats for Life Transformation

In our relentless quest for life transformation, the paths we tread often lead us to sacred spaces that promise serenity, introspection, and rejuvenation. Retreats have evolved as sanctuaries that offer this gift of transformation. Let’s delve into the various types of retreats that stand as pillars of transformative experiences.

Meditation Retreats: Central to life transformation is the practice of meditation. Meditation retreats serve as havens where individuals can immerse themselves in stillness, cultivating mindfulness and deepening their connection to the self. These retreats often use techniques such as Vipassana, encouraging attendees to journey inwards and encounter their true essence.

Wellness Retreats: These are holistic cocoons that blend physical, mental, and spiritual practices. A wellness retreat offers a variety of therapies ranging from spa treatments to dietary regimens, designed to detoxify and rejuvenate the body, while also nurturing the spirit. The emphasis here is on total wellness – a harmonious balance of mind, body, and soul.

Spiritual Retreats: Spiritual retreats delve deep into the metaphysical, offering soulful experiences that connect attendees to the divine. Often held in places with rich spiritual histories like Spirit Rock, these retreats offer teachings, rituals, and practices aimed at enhancing one’s spiritual journey.

Yoga Retreats: Going beyond just physical postures, yoga retreats encompass the holistic philosophy of yoga. From breathwork (pranayama) to meditation (dhyana), these retreats deepen one’s yoga practice, aligning chakras and harmonizing energies.

Healing Retreats: As the name suggests, these are about mending and rejuvenation. Whether it’s emotional trauma or physical ailments, healing retreats offer therapies, rituals, and ceremonies designed to heal the body, mind, and spirit.

Living Retreats: Immersive by nature, living retreats are extended getaways, often in serene locales like Costa Rica, where participants can experience sustainable, holistic living. Here, the focus is on harmonizing with nature, adopting organic lifestyles, and embracing the rhythms of the Earth.

So, you might wonder, amidst this plethora of options, what makes Sedona Soul Adventures stand out? The answer lies in its unique approach. While most retreats offer a preset itinerary, Sedona Soul Adventures believes in the sacredness of individual journeys. Understanding that each person, or couple, has distinct aspirations, traumas, and dreams, their retreats are meticulously custom-designed. This ensures that the transformation journey is intimate and profound, resonating deeply with each participant’s unique life story.

But the magic doesn’t end there. Unlike group sessions offered elsewhere, Sedona provides private, 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 sessions, ensuring undivided attention from Sedona’s Master Practitioners. This intimate setting fosters a safe space for individuals and couples to confront, heal, and transform, catalyzing an enduring life transformation.

In conclusion, while the world offers a myriad of retreats, If you want to transform your life, nothing compares to the bespoke, transformative journey offered by Sedona Soul Adventures. If you truly seek life transformation that’s tailored just for you, a deep conversation awaits. Schedule a call with one of our Soul Guides, and let your transformative journey commence.

“This year sucked!! I’m not thankful for anything!!”

“This whole year has sucked!! I’m not thankful for anything!!”

I have heard so many people say that during this Thanksgiving and I certainly understand where it comes from.

This whole year has been really difficult for so many people.

I have had so many losses this year. Richard’s father passed and even though he was 96, just last June, he was doing great and then he suddenly went downhill. And then, out of the blue, his 75 year old wife passed within just a few weeks. We also just lost one of the most beloved members of our Sedona Soul Adventures family this week. It was a total shock, I’m still reeling.

All the violence that’s going on in the world makes it almost impossible for me to watch the news anymore.

The polarization of our country seems to just be getting worse.

There’s a lot of negativity we can focus on…

But I want you to stop and think for a moment and ask yourself this question:

What’s happened to YOU this year?

With everyone with whom I’ve had this conversation, when they’ve stopped and really thought about it, the answers have had a great deal of similarity. All of this stuff that’s been going on has made them stop and really think about the big questions:

How do I want my life to be?

How do I want my relationships to be?

One of the things that has been so interesting with the pandemic is that for a little while, the entire world stopped. It just stopped! And for the first time ever, we had something that affected the entire world! That’s never happened before in the history of the planet, not even during the world wars. One thing that affected everyone worldwide. It made a lot of people realize:

  • Life is short
  • Life is too short for me to not be living my life in the way I want
  • Life is too short for me to not be living my Life Purpose
  • Life is too short for me to not be having the kind of relationships I want
  • I want relationships that nurture me and make me happy, and life is too short for me to settle for anything less than that

It’s so interesting how when you get clear on that, suddenly so much stuff falls away.

Things that you thought you “had to do” either can’t be done in the same way or you don’t do them and you discover the sky doesn’t fall.

You start telling people in your life the truth about what you want and you’re amazed to find out they love you and want to support you in being happy.

All of this is exactly what we’re seeing in our retreats right now. Individuals who are coming are clear they want to start living their best life. See this Trustpilot testimonial. Mathew (not his real name) says:

“I feel like I have completely reset my entire being to a place of peace, clarity and best of all, Love.”

And I love how Jill says:

“I know my whole family will benefit from the transformational work we did during our time at Sedona Soul Adventures.”

And she’s so right! It not only transforms your life and the life of you and your partner, the transformations affect everyone around you. The biggest referrals we get are when clients go home and their friends or spouses or co-workers say to them, “What happened to you?” And then the friend calls us and says, “I want me some of that!”

Don’t get me wrong, this has been a very challenging year. But isn’t it fabulous that for so many people, all of this has given them a huge knowing of what they DON’T WANT.

And knowing very clearly what you don’t want is the first step of knowing and manifesting what you DO want. And for those who are willing, this can be turned into a time where you can get what Mathew got:

“A re-set of your entire being into a place of peace, clarity and best of all, Love.”

Can you imagine going into 2024 with a sense of clarity and peace? About all aspects of your life? All of that and more is possible. I love it so much (and you’ll see it when you read it) that so many of our Trustpilot reviews say, “My Soul Adventure was so much more than we expected!”

Call and speak with one of our Soul Guides. They’ll have a deep conversation with you about what’s going on in your life or your relationship. What are the parts that are working? What are the parts that aren’t working? They’ll start the process of figuring out where the problems are and what needs to be done. They’ll talk with you (or both of you for a Couples Retreat) about your deepest needs and desires. Then they’ll custom design a retreat that will take you from where you are to where you want to be.

Life’s too short to be living an unsatisfying life.

Life’s too short to be in an unhappy, unsatisfying relationship.

Remember, there’s no cost or obligation to speak with a Soul Guide and you can do your Soul Adventure in-Sedona or from the comfort of your own home.

How to Connect With Divine Feminine Energy

In today’s fast-paced world, many people seek ways to reconnect with their inner selves and achieve balance in their lives.

One powerful way to accomplish this is by tapping into the Divine Feminine Energy, a universal force that embodies qualities such as intuition, creativity, compassion, and emotional intelligence. This energy is not exclusive to any gender, as both men and women can benefit from connecting with it.

When I came to Sedona for the first time over 20 years ago, I had just started my 20th year of law practice. I was completely burned out from having spent so many years in this male-dominated profession that was so cut-throat, aggressive and competitive. In the very first session I ever did in Sedona, I worked with an amazing energy healer, Ranjita, and she told me that my masculine energy had overtaken my feminine energy. That I was literally living my life from my masculine, rather than my feminine.

In a flash, I could see how true that was! It was affecting everything, not only my work but also my personal relationships with my husband, my family and my friends. This realization started me on a journey to “fix” it – to start to allow my Feminine Energy to really come forth, stop dominating the masculine and rather, find the beautiful balance of that dance.

Let’s explore the importance of Divine Feminine Energy in our lives, its historical and cultural context, and practical techniques to connect with this transformative power, ultimately helping you achieve harmony and personal growth on your spiritual journey.

What Is Divine Feminine Energy?

Divine feminine energy and divine masculine energy are concepts rooted in various spiritual and metaphysical traditions. They represent the fundamental aspects of energy and consciousness, often associated with gender archetypes but not limited to them. These energies are not exclusive to any particular gender, as both exist within all individuals, regardless of their biological sex or gender identity.

Divine feminine energy is the spiritual essence associated with nurturing qualities traditionally linked to feminine energy traits, such as intuition, nurturing, compassion, creativity, empathy, gentleness, and the ability to receive. It is associated with the yin energy in Chinese philosophy and is often symbolized by the moon, water, and the Earth. Divine feminine energy represents the creative power within all living beings and plays a role in guiding individuals to cultivate their intuition and live their life purpose.

Divine masculine energy embodies attributes such as strength, action, logic, assertiveness, courage, protection, and the ability to provide. It is associated with the yang energy in Chinese philosophy and is often symbolized by the sun, fire, and the sky.

Divine feminine energy and divine masculine energy are complementary and interconnected forces that exist within the universe and within individuals. The balance and harmonious integration of both forms of divine energy are believed to be essential for personal growth, spiritual development,  and the overall well-being of individuals, society, and Mother Earth.

Connecting with divine feminine energy helps individuals tap into their innate wisdom and use their intuition, fostering personal growth on physical, mental, and emotional levels while promoting spiritual development. Embracing these energies allows us to cultivate self-love, intuition, and empathy towards others, which ultimately leads to healthier relationships overall. As a result, spiritual retreats dedicated to helping individuals connect to divine feminine energy have become popular.

The Historical and Cultural Context of Divine Feminine Energy

To understand the growing interest in divine feminine energy today, let’s consider the greater historical and cultural context of divine feminine energy. Understanding context is a proven way to improve learning. Complex and diverse, the historical and cultural context of divine feminine energy is shaped by various belief systems, societal structures, and the experiences of different cultures and individuals throughout time.

One easy conclusion to draw when considering the greater context is that an interest in divine feminine energy is not new. The understanding and expression of divine feminine energy have evolved and been interpreted in diverse ways throughout history.

When examining the historical context, we can look at ancient civilizations. Many ancient civilizations had deities and mythologies that incorporated divine feminine energy. For example, in ancient Mesopotamia, the goddess Inanna represented love, fertility, and war. In ancient Egypt, Isis was revered as a powerful goddess of magic, fertility, and motherhood. In Greece, the goddesses Athena, Aphrodite, Artemis, and Demeter represented different aspects of feminine energy.

When I started doing a deep dive into the Divine Feminine, I connected the most deeply with Isis, Mother Mary and Quan Yin. I was fascinated at how the representations of the three of them are so similar. Isis is very often pictured holding her son Horus and suckling him, reminiscent of the many pictures of the Madonna holding the Christ Child.

Similarly, Quan Yin is the goddess of mercy, compassion and protector of little children. This is a beautiful statue of Quan Yin which I have in my home which came from my years of taking spiritual groups to Bali. She is over five feet tall and carved from a single block of wood. She has her foot on the serpent (whose ornate tail twists around her in the back), just as Mother Mary overcame the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Also see the small child at her right.

An additional consideration when examining the historical context are historical periods when goddess worship or matriarchal societies were prominent and divine feminine energy was central. These societies valued qualities such as fertility, intuition, creativity, and interconnectedness. For example, some evidence exists that the ancient Minoan civilization on the island of Crete was matriarchal. Another example that provides extra historical context is the worship of the Great Goddess in Neolithic cultures.

We can also look at feminine divine energy from a cultural context. Many indigenous cultures worldwide often have reverence for the feminine as a force of creation, nurturing, and wisdom. For instance, Native American cultures honor Mother Earth and have female deities and spirits associated with nature, fertility, and harmony.

An important part of the cultural context of divine feminine energy is the rise of patriarchal societies and organized religions, which resulted in a shift away from the worship of goddesses and a suppression of feminine energies. This led to the marginalization or demonization of feminine power and the elevation of masculine deities and qualities. Understanding this critical phase of the historical and cultural context helps to explain why there is now increased focus on divine feminine energy, which for centuries has been suppressed and marginalized.

In recent centuries, there has been a resurgence of interest in divine feminine energy, particularly through women’s spirituality movements and women’s retreats. These movements seek to reclaim and honor feminine spirituality, often drawing from ancient traditions, and emphasize women’s empowerment, healing, and the connection between spirituality and social justice.

In modern times, divine feminine energy is often understood in more inclusive and expansive ways beyond gender binaries. It is seen as a universal force that encompasses qualities such as intuition, compassion, creativity, emotional intelligence, and the ability to nurture and foster growth. Many individuals, regardless of gender, explore and integrate these energies into their spiritual and personal development, as they explore who they are and what purpose they are meant to fulfill.

Qualities of the Divine Feminine

The qualities of the divine feminine are characteristics such as intuition, creativity, compassion, nurturing abilities, and emotional intelligence. These feminine qualities are different than the characteristics associated with the divine masculine. But rather than creating conflict and opposition with divine masculine energy, the sacred feminine creates balance – whether embraced by men or women.

Intuition, often considered the inner voice or gut feeling that guides us in decision-making processes, is closely linked with divine feminine energy – not divine masculine energy. By tapping into our intuitive powers and trusting them more frequently, we can access deeper insights about ourselves and others while making choices aligned with our true selves. Our intuition can guide us organically to greater balance and create lives of fulfillment, not regret

Cultivating divine feminine qualities can increase creativity. Creative expression allows us to explore our emotions and thoughts through various mediums like art or writing – ultimately helping us connect with the essence of who we are on a spiritual level.

Compassion, another essential trait associated with divine femininity, involves understanding the suffering of others while actively working toward alleviating their pain. This trait is typically not associated with the divine masculine. Compassion extends not only toward other people, but also includes practicing self-compassion – a crucial aspect for personal growth on one’s spiritual journey.

Embracing the divine feminine also means cultivating a nurturing and caring attitude towards oneself, others, and the environment. Strengthening connections, advancing self-development and promoting a sense of wellbeing can all result from adopting a more nurturing attitude. Again, this stance is not typically associated with divine masculine energy.

Developing emotional intelligence is vital for those seeking to embody divine feminine energy. It involves understanding our emotions as well as empathizing with others – ultimately fostering healthier communication in all aspects of life.

By connecting to the divine feminine, whether on our own or through a spiritual retreat, we can tap into the power of feminine energy and the great goddess archetype. It is important to note that these gendered terms are not exclusive to women and can be embraced by anyone seeking to balance their masculine and feminine energies. Incorporating spiritual practices like those used by ancient Greeks and Mother Earth worshippers can help us connect with our divine feminine energy and women’s power.

By embodying the qualities of the divine feminine, we can find balance within ourselves and in our relationships with others. Uniting with your interior holiness can enable you to gain access to a more profound comprehension and admiration for yourself.

How to Connect with Divine Feminine Energy

If you are wondering how to connect with divine feminine energy and cultivate divine feminine qualities, great news – it’s easy and there are many ways to do so.

Meditation and Visualization: Meditation and visualization practices can help individuals connect with divine feminine energy by quieting the mind, opening up intuitive channels, and creating a space for inner exploration and connecting with the higher self. Through meditation, one can focus on specific qualities associated with the divine feminine and cultivate a deeper connection with those aspects within oneself. Link to Blog on Why You Should Meditate as though your life depends on it

Chakra Healing and Balancing: The chakra system is believed to be an energetic framework within the body. Working with chakras can support the exploration and balancing of divine feminine energy. Specific chakras, such as the sacral chakra (associated with creativity and emotions) and the heart chakra (associated with love and compassion), are particularly relevant to connecting with the divine feminine. Chakra healing practices, such as meditation, energy work, or using gemstones, can facilitate the harmonization and activation of these energy centers, resulting in spiritual healing..

Moon Rituals: The moon has long been associated with the divine feminine energy due to its cycles and connection to intuition and emotions. Engaging in moon rituals, such as full moon or new moon ceremonies, can provide a framework for connecting with the rhythms of the lunar cycle and accessing the nurturing and intuitive qualities often attributed to the divine feminine by engaging with mother nature.

Creative Expression: Creative expression, such as through art, writing, dance, or music, can be a powerful means of connecting with and channeling divine feminine energy. Engaging in creative practices allows for self-expression, intuition, and tapping into the deeper realms of the unconscious, fostering a connection with the creative and nurturing forces associated with the divine feminine.

Building a Spiritual Support Network: Surrounding oneself with a spiritual support network, including like-minded individuals, mentors, or supportive communities, can provide a nurturing environment for exploring and connecting with divine feminine energy. Sharing experiences, insights, and practices with others who resonate with the divine feminine can offer guidance, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

Women’s Retreat: Attending a women’s retreat specifically focused on divine feminine energy can provide a dedicated space and time for deepening one’s connection to the divine feminine. These retreats often offer, rituals, meditations, and opportunities for self-reflection and healing. Being in a supportive community of women who share similar intentions can amplify the experience and create a transformative environment.

These tools are not prescriptive but rather offer pathways for individuals to explore and connect with divine feminine energy based on their own unique journey and preferences. It’s important to approach these practices with an open mind and heart, allowing personal intuition and guidance to lead the way in cultivating a deeper connection with the divine feminine.

Integrating Divine Feminine Energy into Daily Life

Integrating divine feminine energy into daily life involves cultivating specific qualities and making conscious choices aligned with the principles of the divine feminine. Here are some suggestions to begin balancing masculine energy with feminine energy:

Cultivating self-compassion: Practice self-care and self-love by setting aside time for nurturing activities, such as taking baths, meditation, engaging in hobbies, or practicing mindfulness. Replace self-criticism with self-compassion by speaking kindly to yourself and acknowledging your worthiness. Nurture your inner goddess by prioritizing self-care as an essential part of your daily routine.

Embracing vulnerability and emotional expression: Allow yourself to be vulnerable by acknowledging and accepting your emotions without judgment. Create safe spaces to tap into your wisdom and express your feelings, whether through journaling, talking with a trusted friend, or seeking therapy. Engage in practices like meditation or breathwork to cultivate emotional awareness and release.

Fostering healthy relationships: Prioritize open and authentic communication in your relationships. Practice active listening and empathy when interacting with others. Set boundaries that honor your needs and ensure mutual respect. Seek relationships that support your growth, well-being, and authentic self-expression, especially of your feminine side.

Balancing work and personal life: Set clear boundaries between work and personal life. Build your feminine energy by prioritizing self-care and making time for activities that bring you joy and relaxation outside of work. Practice time management and delegation to avoid burnout. Remember that rest and rejuvenation are essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance – on a daily basis, as well as taking larger breaks, such as women’s retreats.

Connecting with nature and the environment: A natural way to connect with the divine mother is to spend time in Mother Nature regularly, whether it’s through walks in parks, gardening, or simply observing the natural world around you. Develop a sense of reverence and appreciation for the Earth’s beauty, wisdom and feminine energy. Engage in sustainable practices that respect and protect the environment, such as recycling, conserving energy, and supporting eco-friendly initiatives.

Integrating divine feminine energy is an ongoing process that requires conscious intention and practice. It’s important to be patient and gentle with yourself as you explore these areas and find what works best for you for connecting with divine feminine energy. Remember that the divine feminine is about embracing your authentic self, honoring your emotions, and nurturing your connections with yourself, others, and the world around you.

Understanding divine feminine energy is crucial for personal growth and spiritual development. Throughout history, ancient cultures have embraced the power of femininity through goddesses and archetypal symbols. Today, we can balance divine feminine energies with masculine energies to create harmony within ourselves and in the world around us.

We have many people who come to us at Sedona Soul Adventures who feel “out of whack” with the balance of their feminine energy and masculine energy. And oftentimes, they don’t even realize that is part of what is going on. Understanding the sources of this “out of whackness” can be very important:

  • Sometimes it’s the result of life circumstances, e.g., when I was an attorney for so many years and I became so competitive and so “masculine”
  • Sometimes it can be the way we were raised – sometimes little girls are pushed more into their masculine by a parent (even a well-meaning parent) who wanted a boy and continually put that kind of pressure on the young child
  • Sometimes it’s from a past life – the events of the past life can create a trauma which makes a person more domineering and competitive, living out more “masculine” traits. I’ve had many past lives where I was a very dominating male, super competitive and aggressive and part of my life lessons this time around are to heal those negative aspects.

This is why our retreats are so perfect for helping people to connect with their Divine Feminine Energy and nurture that connection.  All of our retreats are custom designed for each person, so designing the retreat specifically for that is so beautiful. Sometimes there are blocks to connecting to one’s Divine Feminine Energy such as the ones listed above. Discovering those blocks, releasing them and healing them are critical and would be the first part of the retreat. Doing a Karmic Clearing session is perfect for that! The next step is bringing you  into that incredible connection with the Divine Feminine Energy and doing sessions designed to make that happen. Finally, the Spiritual Transformation sessions designed to solidify the connection on all the levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. All along the way receiving tools and processes to continue to deepen the connection with your Divine Feminine Energy so that you’re living that all day, every day in an authenticate way.

It’s funny, when I first came to Sedona over 20 years ago and was told that my masculine energy had overtaken my feminine energy, I made the decision that I wanted to be a “spiritual person”, I wanted to embody the Divine Feminine Energy.  Somehow I had bought into the idea that meant being sweet and compliant and never getting angry. That I should be trying to act like a Goddess all of the time and speaking in a breathy voice, saying things like, “That’s so beautiful.” Ironically, this was at the same time that I was becoming well-known as a divorce attorney and people would call me on the phone and say, “I hear you’re a real bitch. I want you to be my lawyer.” They actually meant it as a total compliment, but it didn’t go along with my ideas of embodying the Divine Feminine Energy!

Luckily, I never did any of that because I knew it would be completely phonybut there was a time when I aspired to it.

It took me years of coming to Sedona and working with the amazing Practitioners here to discover the truth – embodying the Divine Feminine Energy means being authentic and loving and compassionate with yourselves and others. It means discovering, releasing and healing the wounds that hold us back from being authentic and loving and compassionate. It means living in connection all the time.  It means walking the walk and talking the talk and walking the talk. There is an incredible power that comes from connecting with and living in the Divine Feminine Energy that is almost indescribable.

If you’re ready to heal your wounds and forge your own connection to the divine feminine energy,  come to Sedona for one of our women’s retreats! It is the greatest gift you could ever give yourself.

A Surprising Way to Shift Everything in Your Life

Today I want to talk to you about a radical way of looking at your life that can shift everything for you. And I say this because it’s shifted everything in my life.

Watch the video:

I hope this helped, and if you got value from this video, please like, share the video and subscribe to our channel.

I’m talking with you today about How To Flip the Switch to get Happy.

For the next few weeks, I’m going to be talking to you about concepts that are in my book, which is all about how to get happy and stay happy. The complete title of my book is The Journey to Happy– How Embracing the Concept that Nothing is wrong can transform your life. Did you hear that last part? How Embracing the Concept that Nothing is wrong can transform your life.

I want to talk to you about a radical way of looking at your life that can shift everything and I say this because it’s shifted everything in my life. It’s the concept of living your life from the standpoint and the knowing that Nothing is Wrong.

Now I’m sure many of you are saying, “How you can say that Debra, that Nothing is Wrong when the world is so messed up? When everything is crazy, I don’t have enough money, I’m overweight, I hate my job…what’s wrong with my life, my marriage is on the rocks, my kids are driving me nuts…?”

I get it, I completely understand because that’s where I was in January of 1999 – everything in my life was not the way I wanted it to be. I was doing work I hated, I was in an unhappy marriage, I was $50,000 in debt, and I was 40 pounds overweight. I was at a real low in my life.

But everything shifted for me when I really got this concept – it changed everything. I went from unhappy to happy, I dropped 40 pounds without diet or exercise, $50,000 dropped out of sky and I went from doing work I hated to doing work I love.

Here’s the key:
We think our unhappiness is caused by outside circumstances: I don’t have enough money, I don’t have enough love,  I hate my job, I’m overweight, this person is not doing what I want, I don’t have what I want…

The truth is, our unhappiness doesn’t come from outside circumstances. Our unhappiness comes from our response and our reaction to outside circumstances.

  • How we think about it
  • How we talk about it
  • How we feel about it

We cause ourselves grief, upset, unrest, and dissatisfaction by agonizing over circumstances that we don’t prefer. Our complaining keeps us stuck in the energy of lack and of not having what we want.

If you think you’re fat, you’ll always be fat.
If you think you can’t be rich, you can’t.
If you think you don’t deserve love, it might come, but it won’t stay.

Henry Ford said over 100 years ago, “There are two types of people in the world, those who think they can and those who think they can’t, and they’re both right.”

People who think they can have a different energy about them than people who think they can’t. They’re not consumed by fear, they don’t second guess, they don’t explain, and they don’t complain.
When I was worried about money, it never came. When I hated my body, I could go on every diet in the world and lose weight, but the minute I would even think about eating “regular” food again, I would gain it all back and more, because I thought of myself as fat. When I started loving my body, I dropped 40 pounds in 5 weeks without diet and exercise.

When I felt stuck in my work as an attorney and kept telling myself that there wasn’t anything else I could do, and I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I stayed stuck in that energy for over 5 years.

What you resist persists. It persists because you keep feeding it that negative energy, the energy of “this is bad, this is not okay, this is wrong.”

So what’s the answer? Drop the resistance. If what you resist persists, then stop resisting.
Drop the resistance, Go with the flow.

And the easiest, simplest way that I’ve found to do that is to Decide that Nothing is Wrong.
That’s the thought to flip the switch.

When the energy shifts, everything can change and everything you want can flow to you, especially happiness and peace.

I understand that this is a lot to take in. It flies in the face of how most people live their lives, because most people are unhappy and complaining, and telling themselves they can’t have what they want. And as Henry Ford said, they’re right.

And I’m not saying that everything in your life is perfect or that you shouldn’t want more and better. What I AM saying is that the fastest way that I have found to change things is to drop my resistance, drop my judgment, and flip into the energy, and I’ll be talking about lots of different ways to do that over the course of the next few weeks.

I hope this helped even a little, and stay tuned because I’m going to be talking even more deeply about this in the coming weeks. And and if you got value from this video, please like, share the video and subscribe to our channel.

The Benefits of Grief Retreats: a Path Towards Healing and Closure

Closeup of an older woman’s hands holding a younger woman’s hands

In the challenging odyssey of life, grief is an unexpected detour none of us wish to take, yet it often finds its way onto our path. Losing a loved one can be a staggering blow, plunging us into a labyrinth of emotions that are sometimes too complex to name. That loss can make the world seem less colorful, more chaotic, and filled with an aching emptiness. It’s in these moments, when the weight of grief feels unbearable, that seeking sanctuary becomes not only desirable but necessary.

Loss of a loved one introduces us to emotions and experiences that, while difficult, can help shape us into more robust and empathetic beings. Have you ever noticed how the most profound life lessons aren’t found in moments of ease, but in periods of challenge and upheaval? That’s your soul speaking to you, inviting you to dig deeper and rise higher.

The road to healing is often convoluted and lonely, leading many to search for something more than traditional counseling. This is where a grief healing retreat comes in—offering an immersive experience to help you process those deep, often overwhelming, feelings. And when it’s a private retreat, you have the opportunity to dive even deeper, exploring your own unique journey through loss in a way that larger, group settings simply can’t provide.

When first started Sedona Soul Adventures over 20 years ago, it was so interesting to me that we had so many people who came to us who had suffered the loss of a husband, wife or partner. And so many people who had lost a child and so many who had lost a beloved pet. The grief can be so overwhelming. We’ve been doing this work for over 20 years and the transformations which happen still continue to amaze me. To be able to bring people back from the depths of despair has been some of the most meaningful work we’ve done over all these years.

Let’s talk more deeply about the concept of grief retreats, a cocoon of compassion and healing, especially designed to help you navigate the labyrinth of loss: What are they, who benefits from them, and how can they offer you the gift of healing and clarity?

What Exactly is a Grief Retreat?

A grief retreat is more than just a break from daily life; it’s an intentional space to focus on your emotional and spiritual well-being, designed to help you navigate the stormy waters of loss and bereavement.

We know that each individual experiences grief differently. Every couple experiences grief differently, especially if they have lost a child. That’s why we’ll be talking here about private retreats, not group retreats. With us, every grief retreat is meticulously tailored to meet your unique needs. Unlike traditional therapy, which can sometimes feel sterile or one-size-fits-all, Sedona Soul Adventures crafts an empathetic environment for you, or you and your partner, if you wish to explore this journey together.

Why Consider a Grief Retreat?

People usually contact us when they’ve run out of other options for dealing with their grief. Sometimes it’s been years after the loss, sometimes a brief time. Sometimes people having been lying in their beds for months at a time, sometimes they were doing “fine” and then suddenly hit a wall. Sometimes it’s after they’ve tried years of therapy, and it still hasn’t done anything for them. There comes a time when suddenly you know in your heart and soul “I’ve got to do something”.

Who Makes the Right Candidate for a Grief Healing Retreat?

Once you’ve hit that place of “I’ve got to do something”, the best candidate is a  person who is open and willing to try a different approach to dealing with their grief. A grief retreat with us isn’t one-size-fits-all; it’s custom-designed for exactly what you need in your own journey. So, whether you’re facing complicated grief, anticipatory grief, or are simply looking to create meaningful rituals to commemorate your loved one, you’ll find that a grief retreat can be an empowering step forward. And if you maybe have the thought that a grief retreat for a pet seems a little too much, as someone who has experienced that grief myself, I can tell you that this kind of grief is overwhelming and I have done sessions utilizing my incredible Practitioners to help me through the passing of my beloved Katie Kat and Daisy, within about one year of each other and that work was miraculous for me.

So many people who have come to us for a grief healing retreat for their pet have been able to move out of their despair and sadness.

The Benefits of Acknowledging Grief

But let’s get real, why should you invest your time, energy, and resources into something like this? What are the tangible benefits? First and foremost, attending a grief retreat allows you to pause, an essential step often overlooked in our fast-paced society. By consciously setting aside time to focus on your emotional well-being, you give yourself permission to grieve, and through that permission, you open doors to healing. You’ll also learn powerful coping mechanisms that equip you with the resilience to not just endure future emotional storms, but to navigate them with grace.

The Beauty of Building Resilience

Now, I know what you might be thinking: “But will this actually change anything? Will I suddenly be over my grief?” The answer is both yes and no. No, a grief retreat won’t magically erase the pain of loss. However, it will equip you with lifelong skills to handle your grief more effectively. Picture this: instead of flailing in a turbulent ocean of emotions, you’re now sailing through it. You’ve been given the tools to navigate. This is the essence of resilience, and it’s a gift that continues to give long after the grief retreat is over.

The Art of Presence

You see, there’s a profound magic in being truly present with your emotions. This level of presence doesn’t come naturally for most of us; it’s something we need to cultivate. Our practitioners employ a rich blend of spiritual practices and intuitive healing modalities to help you connect deeply with your innermost feelings and thoughts.

The Spiritual Dimension

And let’s not overlook the spiritual dimension of these retreats. Engaging with your loss through rituals or mindfulness allows you to connect with a higher power, or if you prefer, your inner self. This connection brings a newfound sense of purpose and understanding that can guide you through the murkiest moments of your grief journey. See also External Resource: Faith and Grief – Understanding the Process

And in this spiritual dimension let’s explore the idea that this person or beloved pet isn’t “lost”. They have moved onto a higher dimension, a higher state of consciousness. When you start to deeply understand this and embrace that belief, it may even sometimes be possible to connect with them, especially using breathwork and intuitive readings and other modalities designed to bring you into those higher frequencies. I have had so many incredible conversations with Daisy and Katie Kat now that they are in the higher realms. Is that too far out? It’s been such an incredible source of comfort for me since they passed.

What Happens at a Grief Retreat?

What to Expect

When you attend a grief retreat, especially a private one, the experience is distinctly yours.   Forget about the traditional ‘circle of chairs’ grief therapy approach, where you’re not only encouraged, but expected, to pour out your heart and soul in front of a group of strangers. Instead, you will engage in a series of private, 1-on-1 or 2-on-1 sessions (for couples) with our Master Practitioners, many of whom have over 20 years of experience of helping people with their grief.

A Symphony of Healing Modalities

Holistic healing often borrows wisdom from a variety of sources. Grief counselors such as Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, Joanne Cacciatore, “We Don’t MOVE ON From Grief. We Move Forward With It”, as embodied in the philosophy behind the Miss Foundation are excellent.

In our grief healing retreats, you’ll be engaged in what can be thought of as a symphony of healing modalities.  With us, each session is designed to meet you where you are, helping you come to terms with your grief and plan your next steps in a life that will undoubtedly look different—but can still be meaningful.

These are not random selections from a menu of spiritual activities but a carefully orchestrated series of one-on-one or two-on-one (for couples) sessions that respond to your unique emotional and spiritual needs. From energy balancing to deep spiritual counseling, our one-on-one private sessions can include a range of therapeutic activities and spiritual practices, such as emotional clearings, breathwork, forgiveness processes, Radiant Heart Healing,  Core Wound transformation, spiritual transformation, meditation, mindfulness practices and possibly even a Karmic Clearing where you might learn about past lives you’ve had with your beloved and clearing any lingering karma, soul contracts, vows, etc. All sessions are conducted by Sedona’s Master Practitioners, many with over two decades of experience of working with grief.

Each modality serves as an instrument in the orchestra of your healing journey. Together, they create a harmonious experience that aims to bring you inner peace and understanding.

A Sanctuary for the Soul

Think of Sedona Soul Adventures as your spiritual sanctuary, a refuge away from the noise and clutter of daily life, where your needs are not just acknowledged but deeply honored. Here in this incredibly beautiful and sacred place, our master practitioners create a cocoon of safety and wisdom where you can express your grief, and most importantly, be yourself without judgment or expectation.

Treading the Labyrinth of Emotions

We help you learn the turns and twists of your personal labyrinth. Our commitment to custom-designed experiences ensures that your grief retreat is as unique as your fingerprint. We listen, we intuit, and we curate experiences that speak to your soul.

As you come to the end of your retreat, you’ll find that it is really a beginning—the commencement of a renewed journey. You’ll return to your daily life not as a person who has mastered grief but as someone who has integrated it, recognizing its transformative power and its place in your larger life story.

Today, I’m going to talk to you about How To Discover Patterns That Are Hurting Your Life. Back in 2016, I wrote a book that became an International #1 Best Seller called The Journey To Happy. I’m going to be talking to you in a number of videos about the ideas and processes that I talk about in my book.
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “Why did I do that?”

Or have you looked back over your life and noticed that you seem to do the same things over and over again, making some bad choices over and over again?
I was a divorce attorney for over 20 years and one of the things that happened during that time is that I had some clients that I did 3 divorces for! And the amazing thing was, what I noticed is that they were marrying the same person over and over again, they just had a different name. And what I also discovered is that if their father was an alcoholic, they would end up marrying alcoholics, or if their mother was withholding and couldn’t express love, they would marry someone who was – you guessed it – withholding and couldn’t express love. I now see this all the time with people who come here to Sedona Soul Adventures to do our retreats.
It doesn’t make any sense when we think about it rationally, but when you think about it from an emotional and spiritual standpoint, it makes perfect sense. With a childhood like that, you take on the belief that you’re not loveable and your soul is looking to heal that wound so it finds someone to bring that up for healing. You keep finding people that bring up that old wound of making you feel like you’re not loveable. It’s a vicious cycle if you don’t do something about it.
So the key for this, is to discover the patterns that you took on as a child that are still affecting you.
This process is quick and it is so enlightening. When I first did it, I couldn’t believe it. Here’s what you do:
Look at the top 6 areas of your life and look at how these same things were for your parents:

  1. Life
  2. Spirituality
  3. Work
  4. Money
  5. Relationships
  6. Body

Here were my answers when I first did this…
Life
My Parents: Life is hard
Me: Life is hard
Spirituality
My Parents: Believed in God
Me: Believe in a Higher Power
Work
My Parents: You have to work really hard and do things you don’t like to make money and support yourself.
Me: I was working really hard and doing things I didn’t like (practicing law) to make money and support myself.
Money
My Parents: Made a lot of money. Spent a lot of There was never enough. My mother would sit at the dining room table and write out checks to pay bills and say, “There’s not enough!”
Me: Made a lot of money. Spent a lot of money. Never enough. Amazingly, I would also sit at the dining room table and write out checks to pay bills and say, “There’s not enough!”
Relationships
My Parents: Marriage is hard. Parents are distant, Father is working nights and completely unavailable.
Me: I was already divorced by this time. I kept finding unavailable men. My first boyfriend was away at college. My first husband was in law school and studying all the time. My second husband was from Holland and we had a long distance relationship until we got married. After that marriage ended, I had a relationship with an American who lived in Tokyo.
Body
My Parents: My mother was constantly dieting, and as my father aged, he became morbidly obese. He would go on diets and lose 30-40 pounds and then would go off the diet and gain it all back and more.
Me: I was put on my first diet when I was 12, even though I wasn’t fat. I would continually go on diets and lose 20 pounds, and then I would go off the diet and gain it all back and more.
Although I thought I was completely different from my parents, I was completely like them in terms of how everything in my life was manifesting. When I realized that I was even sitting at the dining room table writing out checks to pay bills and saying, “There’s not enough,” I was totally, completely stunned. These patterns are set in ways that we don’t even realize until we start to consciously look at them.

Take ten minutes to think about how your parents, teachers, or others (who really influenced you as a child) interacted with the world. For most people, it will be your parents. How did they “do” money? How did they “do” food? How did they “do” relationships?
Remember, this is not about blame; this is about raising your conscious awareness. As I’ve said, we are creating our reality in every moment. I know I created these parents and I created these patterns. This is not my parents’ fault. I chose (unconsciously) to take on their thoughts and perceptions. This was one of the most valuable processes I ever did in my life, so I invite you to do it now.
Of course, now that you have gained this awareness, there are steps that you can take immediately. For me, one of the first things I did was to stop writing checks at the dining room table! I also broke up with the guy in Tokyo.
For most of us though, just having the awareness of these patterns isn’t enough to change them. It’s certainly a start and I really want you to do this exercise so that you know this much, and there are simple things that you can start to do to change some of these things around. But usually, the patterns are much deeper and most of us need help in dealing with them and turning them around.
If you would like some help with that, please contact us at Sedona Soul Adventures. This is what we’re the best at – uncovering the patterns and then giving you the tools to turn it around.

“I just want to be loved”

Have you seen this incredible image before?

2 Souls Want Love - Burning Man

It’s a sculpture that was done by Alexander Milov at the Burning Man festival a few years ago. For me, this just says it all for what happens when we have difficulties in relationships, whether it’s between two married people, two people in a love relationship, or even two friends or family members.

Even in our darkest despair (represented by the two figures turning away from each other in grief (or dejection, rejection, hopelessness, or whatever it is you see there)), what’s really happening is that the little boy or girl inside of each of us is actually trying to reach out to the other one saying, “I just want to be loved.”

We see this all the time with our couples retreats. People come to us and they are having a problem in their relationship, and it shows up as lots of different things — they aren’t getting along anymore, or there’s been infidelity, they don’t feel supported, the sizzle has gone out of the relationship, etc. But the bottom line that’s really happening, is that one or both of them isn’t getting what they want. They’re not getting the love they want; they’re not getting the approval they want; they’re not getting the support they want; they’re not getting the kind of intimacy they want. And in most cases, even the fighting and arguing are just them reaching out saying, “I just want to be loved.”

The problem is, when we’re in the middle of that, we simply can’t see it. If we have a partner who isn’t treating us the way we want to be treated or they’re doing things that we don’t like, or (worse) if they’re being dishonest and uncaring, it’s pretty hard to not just keep focusing on that. It’s almost impossible, when you’re in the middle of a shouting match, to understand that that is really a cry for love.

I was reminded of that a while ago when we had a couple here who had already decided to file for divorce. They came here deciding to give the relationship one last shot. Coming here to do a retreat was the husband’s idea and the wife was already pretty much done. Her husband had started an “emotional affair” with someone else, meaning he was talking to this other woman a lot but they weren’t having sex (however, that was going to happen next if they didn’t do something about this). The wife, of course, felt completely betrayed and shocked.

They both told us the marriage had been rocky for the past two years. They had stopped communicating, they had sex very infrequently and they were arguing a lot over inconsequential things. Their two children were both in college, so they were now empty nesters. Rather than relishing in their newfound freedom with each other, they felt like strangers. They both were working all the time and never made time for each other.

In their sessions, we uncovered and brought out the two wounded children that were inside both of them. It turned out that both of them grew up in homes where their parents didn’t get along and didn’t express love. Mike (not his real name) was acting just like his father: working too hard; angry a lot of the time. Mike’s father had felt like a failure because he lost his job in middle age and never really recovered from that. His father had an affair at the same age Mike was, and here was Mike about to follow in his father’s footsteps. He realized that he was never giving Claire enough emotional connection, just like he saw with his own parents.

Claire’s father was an alcoholic and that wreaked havoc and destroyed the family. Her parents finally split up when she was 10. We uncovered that Claire had made a decision at a young age – “I’m never going to let a man hurt me like that” – which really translated into “I’m never going to let a man get close enough to me to really get hurt.”

So deep inside were a wounded little boy and a wounded little girl, both of them afraid they weren’t being loved.

We did sessions with each of them individually to move the energy of those woundings that had happened to that little boy and little girl. They both had an underlying unconscious fear of “I’m not safe.” When they moved through that, they understood that they are safe. They’re adults, they are in the world, they can take care of themselves, they don’t have anything to be afraid of.

But even better, they realized they truly loved each other. In her Breath Journey, Claire experienced the love she had for Mike when they first met, and then she saw this beautiful vision of them floating on a boat on a river with Mike looking at her adoringly. Suddenly she literally saw the energy of their two hearts coming together and she knew they were meant to be together.

In their Relationship Connection session, Mike really got it how damaging the emotional affair was (even though at first he kept saying, “but we haven’t had sex”). He realized how he was playing out his father’s life and he didn’t want to do that! Both of them understood that they both needed specific ways of communicating their love for each other and they learned how to do that.

I got an email from Claire a few months after their Soul Adventure and she said she can’t believe how the simple tools they learned here have made all the difference. I reminded her that the biggest thing that happened was that the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl were healed. When you do that, it transforms everything.

The next time you and your partner argue or have a disagreement, see if you can step back just for a moment and ask yourself, “Is this just a cry for love?” I’m guessing that nine times out of ten, that will be the case. If you can communicate your love to each other in that moment, most of the time the upset falls away. I know it’s hard to do that when you’re in the middle of a confrontation, but you’ll be amazed at the results.

The problem is, none of us are trained to do that. And when we think the other person is wrong or has wronged us, it’s pretty impossible to move off of that position. And the underlying problem — the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl — are still there and hurting.

That’s why our Couples Retreats are so incredibly valuable. Because we’re healing the relationship by healing the wounded little boy and the wounded little girl. When they’re taken care of, the relationship can thrive and grow, and become happier and juicier than ever.

Once relationships start having problems, they can deteriorate fast. I know because I was a divorce attorney for 20 years! Don’t let that happen to you.

And, of course, this doesn’t just have to do with couples. A huge percentage of the problems that everyone has comes from this wounding that we’ve all experienced in one way or another.

Before their Soul Adventure “the ‘D’ word” was coming up more and more; after their Soul Adventure, Frank and Valerie say “Our communication is better than ever, and our romance is better than ever. Our marriage is safe.”

“My wife of 12 years and I have two children ages 4 and 8. Up until about 18 months ago we had a great marriage, but then that all suddenly changed. My wife became increasingly introverted. I became confused, then upset, and at times very angry. I could not understand what was happening to my wife. After months of marriage counseling we were never able to get to the core of what was sending us in different directions. The “D” word was coming up more and more often despite our desperate attempt to put the pieces back together. Trust, passion, communication and, most importantly the connection, were gone. I was searching for help and I sent my wife the link to Sedona Soul Adventures… she could not believe that it came from me. She was so excited, and so was I.

I almost can’t believe what has happened. After our Soul Adventure, we are connected more than the day we married back 12 years ago. I learned I do have a spiritual side. I am a spirit having a human experience. My wife is beautiful just the way she is. She now loves her newfound ability to communicate. Our communication is better than ever, and our romance is better than ever. Our marriage is safe, and there is no turning back. Thank you to you and your entire team of loving and talented individuals for all you do.”

How Self Love Affects Every Part of Your Life [and How to Get It]

I’ve been working with people for over 40 years, first as a family law attorney and now with Sedona Soul Adventures, and one of the things I find that is most important if you want to have a truly happy life, is to truly develop self love. As I talk about in the video, if you don’t love yourself, that’s going to show up in every area of your life.

One of my favorite parts of this video is the quote from the Buddha:

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire Universe, deserve your love and affection.”

If you don’t totally believe that, please watch the video.

I hope it helps.

Tracy says, “Before my Soul Adventure I was depressed, lost and had no self love or self confidence. After my Soul Adventure, I feel WORTHY, I am very LOVED, I now have self confidence and self love.”tracy j ssa testimonial

I found this testimonial that is just so perfect about how Tracy finally found self love! To go from depressed, broken and self-destructive to truly feeling worthy and filled with self love, is just so amazing! And I love it that this is what we do all day, every day, to help people find that.

If you want to really kick your self love up a notch, do a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat. We’ll figure out what’s causing the lack of self love and what’s holding you back from having the life (or the relationship) of your dreams.

We’ll bring you into the space of really loving yourself and give you the tools to get you into those higher, faster (happier) vibrations and stay there all the time.

Too good to be true? Actually, it does even more than that!

Contact us, connect with a Soul Guide and they’ll explain more about how we can do that for you.

Wishing you a week filled with truly loving yourself!

One of the biggest challenges that so many people who come to us face, is lack of self-love. And I have to say it’s a challenge that I’ve really had to work with in my own life. It’s just so pervasive.
If this is something you’ve been feeling, here are some possible reasons why and how it shows up…
For most of us, something happened in our childhood. Someone we cared about, usually a parent, says something that we take on — you’re stupid, there’s something wrong with you, you’ll never amount to anything.
You maybe have a Faulty core belief – deep inside, you believe you’re not okay, or that you’re not good enough, that usually leads to Negative self talk – when something happens do you find yourself saying things “I’m so stupid,” or “what’s wrong with me?”
Are any of these true for you?
You see, when we look a little deeper, we uncover what’s really going on and then when you go deeper still, you see the compound affects showing up in many areas of your life.
If you think there’s something wrong with you, if you think you’re not good enough, or if you think you’re not enough, then it’s going to affect all the areas of your life, what I call the Fab Four:

  1. Relationships
  2. Work
  3. Money
  4. Health

What are the ways you can see how this problem is affecting these areas of your life?

  • Relationships – If you think you’re not enough, you’re going to attract relationships where people don’t really love you or take care of your needs.
  • Work – If you think you’re not enough, you’re never going to be able to truly succeed.
  • Money – It’s hard, probably impossible, to bring in a lot of abundance if you think you’re not enough.
  • Health – And what I find is that people who think they’re not enough, typically don’t take very good care of themselves, and it seems to be at the root of many health issues.

If you don’t love yourself, that’s going to sabotage every area of your life.

We had a woman here a few months ago who had been placed for adoption when she was born – her mother was a drug user and she was taken away at birth. She had this very deep sense of, “what’s wrong with me that even my own mother didn’t want me?” And of course that wasn’t true, her mother knew she couldn’t care for her properly.

But then she was adopted by two parents who were constantly upset with her that she wasn’t doing well enough in school, they criticized her constantly, all she ever heard was that she wasn’t good enough. She got married very young to get out of the house, married a man who mistreated her (because if you don’t love yourself, you can’t bring in someone who’s truly going to love you) and got divorced at a young age when the abuse got too bad. By the time she came to us, all the areas of her life were messed up — she was in another bad relationship, she hated her work, she hated her body.

So what can YOU do to begin to start loving yourself just a little bit?

Take yourself off the hook – look around, are you really that much worse than anyone else?

Stop comparing yourself to everyone else, that’s a recipe for disaster.

Start noticing your self talk and the way you talk to yourself. Think about it. You probably speak more kindly to your dog or your cat than you do to yourself.

As the Buddha said, “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire Universe, deserve your love and affection.”

Are you going to argue with Buddha?

These are great places to start, and as you work through these, you’ll begin to uncover other ways to help you find your way and overcome the lack of self-love.
