My guilty secret, perfection, not settling and Amazon Prime

I have to tell you a guilty secret. I love Amazon Prime.
I was realizing this week that I love Amazon Prime so much because it allows a level of perfection that we don’t always have in every area of our lives. It allows me to not only have perfection, but also to not settle for less than perfection. And as much as possible, I am determined to not settle.
I find that the less I settle, the happier I am.
I find that the more I settle, the less happy I am.
You do the math. Not settling = more happy.
I had another beautiful experience with Amazon Prime this week and that’s what got me thinking about having perfection in my life and not settling.
As you read this, you might think that what I’m talking about is trivial, but I assure you it isn’t. The more that we expect and demand things to be the best they can be, the more the Universe conspires to bring the best into our lives (and it doesn’t matter if you’re talking about the work you do in the world or a toaster).
I’ll tell you my experience this week in a moment, but first I want to tell you why I love Amazon Prime:
1. They have virtually everything and I do mean everything! I live in Sedona (which I adore, as you all know), but we are a small population (only 12,000) and the only shopping we have (except for $50 t-shirts) is a Walgreens and Bealls (a discount clothing store). We have to go to Flagstaff or Phoenix to do any real shopping.
Before Amazon, I used to settle for things that weren’t exactly what I wanted because it was all that was available, and I didn’t want to have to drive to Flagstaff or Phoenix. And they were seemingly insignificant things, so I would let it slide and just settle for not having exactly what I wanted.
But now, I can find virtually everything I want! How many things in life can you say that about? Where you can — in almost every situation — find your heart’s desire?
2. In this world filled with uncertainty, they are completely reliable. With Prime, I receive everything in 1-2 days. And when they say 1-2 days, they mean 1-2 days. They have never disappointed me. How many things (or people) can you say that about?
3. It’s so easy. I find what I want so quickly, I buy everything with One Click and then here’s the best part. If I don’t love what I got and want to return something, I click the box on the web site, I tape up the shipping box and go to UPS (a 4 minute drive and the same shopping center where I get manicures) and just drop it off (no standing in line). The minute UPS clicks on the box, the credit goes back on my credit card. So much easier than driving to Flagstaff or Phoenix. Ease — how many things do we have in our lives that are really easy?
4. They are a source of unlimited knowledge. With Prime, I can get an incredible number of movies and TV shows. “Transparent” is an original Amazon Prime show and it’s fantastic. Recently I watched a documentary about World War II and it was extraordinary. I buy all my books on Kindle now and it has set me free! I usually read 4 books at a time (one on spirituality or self development, a biography, a novel and something funny). When I would travel (like on my trip to Egypt last month), it would be such a drag to lug 4 books around with me. Now all of them are on my iPad mini (along with magazines and podcasts). All this knowledge at my fingertips – what a world we live in!
5. They want me to be happy and they don’t want me to settle. The source of all this bliss and contemplation of perfection and not settling is (amazingly) about a plastic cord cover. Again, you might think this is trivial, but it isn’t – read on.
In my beautiful home office (where I do all my writing), I have a beautiful, sleek Apple computer that has a big cord coming out of it. My desk faces the door of the office and is placed in perfect feng shui spacing. This leaves 4 feet of cord going to the wall. I changed the carpet in my office a few months ago to a beautiful thick, plush off white (not practical, but beautiful). The existing plastic cord cover is brown and ugly and very visible on the off white carpet. Every day I would look at that cord cover and it wouldn’t make me feel good.
Finally, last week I realized that the brown cord cover was detracting from my happiness, so I found a beige one on Amazon. I ordered it and it was here in 2 days (free shipping with Prime). But it was a dark beige and I didn’t love it. I went back on Amazon and found one in ivory. I clicked the button for the refund, printed out the shipping label and took the return to UPS the next day (as I was going for a manicure). The day after that the refund appeared on my credit card. The day after that, the ivory cord cover arrived and it matches my carpet perfectly. Every time I look at it, it makes me feel good.
And that’s what got me thinking about these little things about our lives that make all the difference. Having things that are easy and playful, that make us feel good, is so important.
Not settling for things that don’t make us feel wonderful, even down to the smallest details. Like a plastic cord cover. Because the small details make up the largest parts of our lives.
When you make the decision that you only want things in your life that make you feel good, your life will start to change. And I don’t just mean “things” like plastic cord covers, I mean everything — your work, your relationship, your body, your friends. Everything in your life either adds to your energy or takes away from it.
On the surface, these might seem like small things, but they’re not. I was in the habit of “settling” for something because Sedona has no shopping and I didn’t want to wait until the next time I went to Phoenix. Now I have exactly what I want and I have it delivered to my door by a friendly young man who gives my dog a biscuit every time he comes.
And that’s how our lives should be. Too often we’re “settling”. We’re putting up with mediocrity. And at the base of that is the belief that we don’t deserve better than that. And when we stay in that energy, the Universe keeps on delivering more mediocrity.
Changing one little thing can have a huge impact. It leads to changing more little things. And when you move into the energy of change, that’s when change starts happening on all the levels.
I invite you to take stock of your life. Where are you settling? Are you putting up with a mediocre life because it feels like that’s all you can have? I promise you, that’s not the way it works. When you start demanding and expecting things to be wonderful, things start to shift. Little shifts become big shifts.
The big shifts in my life (from unhappy to happy, from hating my work to doing the work of my dreams, from 40 pounds overweight to ideal weight, from $50,000 in debt to financial stability) came when I first started coming to Sedona in 1999. I made the decision that I wasn’t going to settle anymore for the life I had. I’m so glad I made that decision.
Your life can be different. Don’t settle.
If you’re ready to make a shift, if you’re ready to not settle, come to Sedona and do a retreat. It’s the fastest way I know of for you to make the big shifts start happening. Click here and one of our Angel Guides will call you. Or if you’d prefer, call us toll free at 1-877-204-3664 (US and Canada). For our friends outside the US and Canada call 01 928-204-5988 or click here and one of our Angel Guides will call you. They will custom design your retreat to bring your life (or your relationship) into the perfection you deserve.
Wishing you a week filled with perfection,

Shelby says her Sedona Soul Adventure was “perfect”
“I could not have had a more perfect experience, I can take everything I have learned from this amazing experience, and apply it to daily life and make this a better life for myself and those around me. I don’t even know how much my entire trip cost, it did not and does not matter, what I learned and gained is so precious, how do you weigh the value of freeing a soul? You are all so inspirational, and I thank you for such a transforming experience.”

The #1 way to have peace in your life

For most people, having peace in their lives seems like an impossible dream. Most people are stressed out, burned out and they’re doing too much. Ironically, even though they’re doing too much, they don’t feel like they’re accomplishing anything.
Most people are worried about something that gnaws at them all the time. What is that for you? Do you worry about your job, your kids, your health, your spouse, your relationship, your money situation? Do you worry about other people liking you or loving you? Do you worry about your future? Do you worry about how your life is going to end up?
What’s your general state of mind during a typical day? Are you happy and excited? Or are you upset and frustrated? How do you react to things when something happens? Do you take it in stride or go into worry and upset?
Most people live in a general state of worry, upset or (even worse) hopelessness. It’s not hard to understand why that happens with everything that is going on in the world and in our day to day lives.
But the interesting thing is, it’s not all that stuff on the outside that is causing your sense of peace or lack of it. It’s how you’re reacting to all the stuff that’s happening. And how you’re reacting to it is based on how you’re thinking and feeling about it. And the way you’re thinking and feeling about it is probably rooted in something that happened to you a long time ago, in your formative years.
We had a woman who came for a Soul Adventure retreat in the past few weeks who first contacted us saying that she wanted to come to heal her pain around her marriage ending. Her husband had left her and she was (of course) brokenhearted. When she spoke with her Angel Guide, he knew this had deep roots. He designed her Soul Adventure in such a way to bring those out. During her time here, she discovered things around her relationship with her mother that had left her feeling unloved and unworthy of love. She saw how she had actually created an unhappy relationship to bring this up for healing.
Once she had that awareness, everything shifted. She did forgiveness work around her relationship with her mother and she said she felt the energy of that situation completely heal. The next sessions brought her into a sense of loving herself on all the levels — physically (loving her body), mentally, emotionally and spiritually. At the end of her retreat she said, “I had no idea all of this was impacting every area of my life in all of these ways. I feel like a huge weight has come off my shoulders. I feel light and free for the first time in my life”.
Last year we had a couple who first contacted us saying that there were no problems in their relationship, they simply wanted to become closer on a spiritual level. But when their Angel Guide spoke with each of them separately, she felt some undercurrents of resentment and fear. With a Couples Retreat, we always design the retreat to include sessions for the couple together, but also individual sessions for each person to heal issues that the individual might be bringing to the relationship and that’s how their retreat was designed.
During the first session, the cracks in their relationship came out and in their individual sessions, they both got real eye openers. The wife’s father left her mother when she was a young child and the messages she got was “men leave” and “I must have done something wrong that daddy left”. Her father had been very emotionally abusive and she realized that she sometimes felt “bullied” by her husband. Not in a harsh and abusive way, but in subtle ways that were controlling.
She was amazed when she discovered another link: her husband is very attractive and her father was very attractive. Even though they have been married for over 20 years and he has always been faithful, she realized that she has always been afraid of losing him and put up with the subtle bullying because she was afraid that he would leave her like her father had.
In her subsequent sessions, this place of fear (that had been with her since childhood) was healed. She was completely blown away.
In his sessions, the husband disclosed for the first time that he had been bullied as a child. He saw how this was affecting not only his relationship but every area of his life. In his individual sessions the shame from this was healed and he said he felt all the anger just flowing out of his body and his heart.
Needless to say, they were both shocked to discover how this “bullying” issue (which they had never defined as an issue) had been impacting their relationship. And you can imagine how wonderful their final couples sessions were. Both of them came together healed and more in love than ever. Her fear was gone, his shame and anger were gone, and they had a new and deep appreciation for each other that hadn’t been there for a long time. Plus, they received tools that they took home to help them continue to communicate and connect more deeply.
That was last year and I just spoke with them this past week. It’s been a year now and they both said that the peace that this has brought to their lives and relationship is beyond what they could have imagined.
As both of these stories illustrate, if you want to have peace in your life, you have to get at the things that are causing you to not have peace. You might know what those issues are, you might not. Most often, people who come to us to do a retreat discover that the thing that is causing their pain, their anxiety and all their problems is actually something different from what they thought it was.
So here is my bold statement – The #1 way that I know to have peace in your life is to come to Sedona and do a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat. We will find the blocks and move them out. We’ll move you back into a sense of connection and peace that you didn’t think was possible.
Contact us to speak to an Angel Guide. It’s amazing how many people say that after one phone call with their Angel Guide they already feel better. Your Angel Guide will speak with you (or both of you if it’s a couples retreat) on a deep level. Then they’ll custom design a retreat that will bring you into the life or relationship you’re craving.

Daisy Dawg, Katie Kat, puppies, kittens and wet slurpy kisses

1 Hand holding DaisyA number of people have written to me lately asking about how Daisy Dawg and Katie Kat are doing, as I haven’t spoken of them lately. They’re both doing great and as I was going through pictures of them I came across photos of Puddin’ and Emma and Sammy and had to say a few words about them as well as a few words about all the amazing love these little beings bring into our lives.
Daisy is doing so well. The picture above is her at 4 weeks. I could hold her in my hand. See how she’s smiling? She’ll be 6 in July and although she weighs 100 pounds, she still thinks she’s a lap dog. She is happy and healthy and wonderful and, as you can see, she’s still smiling!
DaisyStickandFrisbeeNew
Her favorite thing to do (aside from bugging Katie Kat) is to go hiking, which we do 2-3 times per week. When we hike, she will find a huge stick and as we walk along she’ll stop and spend some time whittling it down from its original hugeness (look closely at the one above, it’s about 5 feet wide). She’s always very proud of her handiwork. My friend and hiking buddy, Susan (who is also one of my wonderful practitioners), calls Daisy “the branch manager”. Her other favorite thing to do is to chase and/or catch frisbees. She prefers the soft side kind and she would do that for hours on end if I would just do that for her (but, alas, I run out of energy after about 20 minutes).
DaisyPoolandLying
She also loves to go and play with her brother, Boulder, who lives with his mommy, Ranjita, in Oak Creek Canyon. Daisy and Boulder look exactly alike (I don’t have anything but fuzzy pictures of them, because they are always running whenever they’re together). The minute she goes up there, she immediately goes into Ranjita’s beautiful fountain for a little soak. When we get home, she has to rest and recuperate for a couple of days.
DaisyandKatieBedHere’s Daisy and Katie Kat together on my bed. Katie will turn 17 this year, I can’t believe it! She’s such a great cat. It is so funny to me that this 8 pound cat is in total control of this 100 pound dog. But she is definitely in control! They get along well, but Daisy can’t understand why the cat doesn’t want to play all the time!

KatienewJPGOn evenings when I’m home, I say to Katie, “I’m getting the snuggly blanket.” Then I stretch out on the couch and she jumps up and lays on my lap (on the snuggly blanket) as I read or watch TV. Every so often she’ll turn around to look at me and she stares into my eyes. I took this picture of her as she was turning to look at me. I always feel a huge surge of love when she does that.
I always wonder what she’s thinking when she looks at me like that. I hope it’s something more compelling than “mommy, this is boring, can we change the channel?”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
As I was looking through these photos, I found photos of my sweet Puddin’ (the cat) and Emma (the black dog). Puddin’ was the most amazing cat. She showed up one day in my backyard. My pet psychic at the time said she was the reincarnation of the cat I had in high school. Puddin’ would jump on your lap and then lay on your chest and your heart chakra would just open. This sink was over a heating vent, so it would get very warm in the winter time. Puddin’ loved to sleep in the warm sink.

EmmaMy beautiful Emma also showed up at a time when I wasn’t looking (especially not for a dog), but there she was. What an amazing being. She was so sweet and full of love. She loved to go hiking in Sedona, it was her favorite thing to do. When she passed very suddenly 6 years ago, I was completely devastated. When I communicated with her through a psychic, she said she would bring me my next dog and the story of how she brought Daisy is so funny and sweet and a little amazing.
Emma was a golden retriever/English springer spaniel mix, so we wanted to find another golden mix. We found people outside of Phoenix who breed their pure bred golden retriever, Honey,  with Luke, who is 1/2 golden and 1/2 yellow lab. The result is a dog who is 3/4 golden and 1/4 yellow lab. They’ve developed this breed in order to breed out the problems that the pure bred goldens have with hip dysplasia, etc. The dogs are so smart and sweet that they are very often used as guide dogs.
We contacted them and they said they wouldn’t be having any more litters until fall, plus they had a waiting list of over 20 people so it probably would be a long time before we would be able to get one of their puppies. But we went down to meet them anyway and met Honey and Luke, the mommy and daddy, and saw what great dogs they are.
Suddenly we got a call a few weeks later saying that Honey had gone into heat and although they had quarantined her away from Luke in their Arizona room, one evening there was a storm and the door to the Arizona room had blown open. By the time they noticed that Luke was not in the living room, they discovered Luke and Honey had evidently “done the deed” and, if so, she was probably pregnant. Also, they had contacted everyone on their list and only one other person wanted a dog at that time, so suddenly we were at the top of the list.
I did another session with the psychic to communicate with Emma. I hadn’t told the psychic that we had decided to get one of Honey and Luke’s puppies. In the session, Emma said she was excited about us having our new puppy and then she said “how do you like how I blew the door open?” We hadn’t told anybody the story of the the door blowing open and Honey getting pregnant. Emma had brought Daisy, just as she promised she would!
3 PuppiesWe were the first ones to see the puppies so we got to choose which one we would take. But the choice was already made. The 3 puppies are identical except for one thing. One of them has a splash of white fur on her chest. Emma had a splash of white fur on her chest. Another sign from Emma that this was our girl.

sammy on wall1And then there’s Sammy, who was my pet lion in a past life in Egypt. Edgar Cayce says in his readings that we not only reincarnate with the same people and groups over and over, but also with the same animals and pets. When I think about the incredible relationships I’ve had with these wonderful beings, I know that must be true.
Sammy lived to be 19 and he was so wonderful. He used to lick me all the time and he had a very rough tongue. It always reminded me of a Dennis the Menace cartoon where Dennis is showing his friend Joey a record and he says “It’s a song about how Cowboy Bob loves his horse — it’s called ‘Sandpaper Kisses'”. Sammy was always giving me sandpaper kisses, but that was quite alright with me.
Daisy gives me big wet slurpy kisses and that’s quite alright also. It’s the love in those kisses that means everything, isn’t it?
Would you like to bring peace, joy, love and light into your life or your relationship? It’s not only possible, it’s exactly what happens when you do a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat.

Debra_JorgeWhy seeing Machu Picchu and Peru with Jorge Luis Delgado is so completely different and so much better than my first trip to Peru
This past week I was going through old boxes and found the receipts and paperwork from my first trip to Peru in 2003. It was an exploratory trip and I was part of the group, not the tour leader. It was not with Jorge Luis Delgado, because I hadn’t discovered him yet. It was a good trip and it was wonderful to see Machu Picchu and Peru, but it was nothing compared to going there with Jorge, our amazing shaman and guide.
I feel like in that first trip I only saw Peru. With Jorge, we experience these sacred places on all the levels — physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. He takes us not only to Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo but also to ancient places that are mainly unknown. He takes us to Aramu Muru, the portal to other dimensions that he discovered. This is our 10th time of journeying to Peru with Jorge and I’m as excited as I was during that first amazing trip.
We still have one more space available – join us on this trip of a lifetime.

Diane says that after her Soul Adventure she is “overflowing with peace, joy, love and light”
“This was not only my very first retreat but also the first time going away completely alone. From the beginning of my journey to its competition I was filled with such support… joy… and love. At no time did I ever feel alone. I never imagined after such a process I would be feeling so much lighter… clearer… and overflowing with so much peace… joy… love and light! What an amazing experience to say the least. I wish to extend to everyone at SSA and all the Practitioners who were all absolutely awesome that I worked with my deep love and warm-hearted gratitude! I will be back! Namaste’Namaste;’Namaste’”

Diane Sordoni, May 2011

Diane also went to Egypt with me this year. It’s so wonderful to have this on-going connection with people and for them to receive so many on-going benefits.

If you aren't living your life purpose…

Are you living your life purpose? My guess is that if you are reading this, you probably are not living your life purpose. If that’s the case, then there are probably a lot of things going on:

  • You might be telling yourself you don’t know what your life purpose is
  • You’re probably feeling frustrated
  • You probably get cranky
  • You probably sometimes feel like you’re running out of time
  • You might be telling yourself that “someday” you’re going to figure this out and really start living your life purpose
  • You have lots of reasons [excuses] for why you aren’t living your life purpose (not enough money, not enough time, the kids, I’m too young, I’m too old)

I don’t think there is anything that is more demoralizing in life than having that nagging feeling that you’re not living your life purpose because you don’t know what it is. If that’s what’s happening for you, I completely understand and I feel huge compassion. That’s exactly what was happening for me for the greater part of my life. I went to college and then I worked for 3 years and then I went to law school. I practiced law for 20 years and for the first 5 years I kept telling myself that as soon as I felt like I knew what I was doing that I would enjoy it more.
Then for another 5 years I told myself that there was something wrong with me because I didn’t enjoy it.
Then for the next 10 years I just simply hated it. I loved the part where I felt like I was helping my clients, but that only felt like about 20% of what I was doing. I told myself that “someday” I was “somehow” going to figure out what I should really be doing with my life and I was going to do whatever that thing was “someday”. But in the meantime, I was the sole source of income for my family, I had to pay the mortgage payment and the car payments and at least I had a nice house and I got to go on a nice vacation once each year.
It wasn’t enough, but I figured it was the best I could do under the circumstances.
Then in the last 5 years of practicing law, I actively knew I had to do something or I was going to die completely unfulfilled. But rather than getting really motivated and doing something about it, I mainly got depressed and angry. I was in my 40’s and I knew I was running out of time.
But I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I kept telling myself there was no way that I could leave my law practice (and the money and the security) without having a totally clear, 100% complete idea of exactly what I was going to do. The problem was, even after a lot of searching, nothing ever presented itself.
In January of 1999 I went into a deep depression about all this. I felt lost and completely stuck. I felt like there was no way out. I felt like I was wasting my life. But the worst part was, I had no idea what to do.
I was working so hard at this job that I hated that I was completely stressed out and burned out.
It got to the point where I knew I needed to do something. I did a session with the energy worker I worked with in Omaha (where I was living then) and the information that came through was that I needed to do a retreat, to go somewhere on my own. In my head, I heard the word “Sedona”. I had heard of Sedona, but I had never been there.
I decided to go to Sedona for 3 days. I thought I was just going for 3 days to rest. Little did I know that those 3 days would completely change my life.
Even though I had no idea what I was going to do. I just knew I had to leave. The minute I made the decision, miracles started happening. And it ultimately led to me founding Sedona Soul Adventures.
And now so many of the people who come to us come because they know they are supposed to be doing something with their lives. They may not know exactly what that is, but they know they’re supposed to be doing “something”. And it’s so gratifying that part of my life purpose now is to help other people discover and start living their life purpose! It’s kind of amazing when you think about it.
If you know you aren’t living your life purpose and your soul mission, my question to you is “What are you waiting for?” Your life is right now. It doesn’t start next year or when you make some more money or when the kids are out of college. And, by the way, if that’s what you’re doing, you’re modeling for your kids that they should do things they don’t want to do, just for money — is that what you want to be teaching your kids?
Don’t do what I did. For 5 years, I would meditate and pray and tell God “I’m so unhappy, please tell me what to do”. I would hear this voice that would say “You need to leave your law practice” and I would stop the process right there. I would never even explore it. I had so many excuses — money, time, security, status — that I cut it off before any other information could come through. I put myself through 5 more years of unhappiness and depression. I did it to myself, no one else was doing that to me.
If you have that nagging feeling that you’re supposed to be doing something, it won’t go away. It will only get bigger. It will only make you feel more and more unhappy.
There are two things you can do right now. First, stop telling yourself that you don’t know what you’re supposed to do. That keeps you stuck in the energy of “I don’t know”. Start telling yourself, that you are on the path to discovering what you are supposed to be doing. That nagging feeling is the Universe talking to you. That is drawing you onto the path. That is truth.
The second thing you can do right now is to come to Sedona and do a retreat that’s designed to help you discover and implement your life purpose and soul mission. Call and talk to one of our Angel Guides. They are people who (like me) aren’t living “traditional” lives anymore and they will be the first to tell you how amazing that is! I love it that over the years my Angel Guides have included people who were a network news producer, a chiropractor, a high powered marketing exec on Madison Avenue, a mom, a real estate agent, a legal secretary and other very “normal” jobs and lives. They know first hand what it takes to live a life that is on purpose.
Even better, after they have spoken with you, they’ll have a very clear understanding of what you need to uncover and start living your purpose-driven life. They’ll design a retreat that is unique for your circumstances — some people have blocks from events that have happened in their lives that are holding them back, some people have a feeling that they don’t deserve to be happy, some people have influences left over from past lives that are blocking them from coming into their best life now, some people have made soul contracts before they came onto the planet that block them from living in abundance and creativity, and some people just don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing. Debra_JorgeTwo more spots left for our Machu Picchu and Peru trip – June 17-30
We have two more spots left for our fabulous Machu Picchu and Peru trip, June 17-30. It’s such an amazing journey – 3 days at Machu Picchu (including doing ceremony on the Solstice, June 21), 5 days on Lake Titicaca, Ollantaytambo, the Sacred Valley, Cuzco and more. Plus being with our shaman and guide, Jorge Luis Delgado, throughout the two weeks is so incredible, including doing ceremonies in these amazing places. And finally, going with other like-minded travelers – it’s certainly the trip of a lifetime.

Last Call for Machu Picchu & Peru – Roommate needed

If seeing Machu Picchu is on your bucket list, then I urge you join us June 17-30 as we journey to Machu Picchu and other sacred sites of Peru. This is truly the trip of a lifetime.
Debra_JorgeSpend 2 weeks with shaman and guide Jorge Luis Delgado
I believe that Jorge is one of the most important teachers on the planet right now. To be able to be in his presence for 2 weeks, to hear his teachings and to “walk the path of the shaman” is absolutely transformational and life changing.

DDebra ceremony Doorwayo ceremonies at some of the most important sacred sites in the world
One of the most fantastic things we do on this trip is ceremonies at the special places we visit. We do a sunrise ceremony at Machu Picchu on the Solstice. We also do a special ceremony at the Doorway of Aramu Muru, the portal to other dimensions that was discovered by Jorge Luis (the story is in his book Andean Awakenings), on the island of Amantani and throughout the trip. During these ceremonies we are releasing “heavy energies”, the blocks that are holding us back from living our best life. They are also designed to connect us with the energy of the Divine.
AWomanDrinkbsolutely Everything is taken care of for you. It’s so wonderful on a trip like this to have absolutely everything taken care of for you. Hotels, food, all the transportation (and on this one it not only includes planes, trains and automobiles, but also boats!). I went to Europe the summer before last and having to put together all of that made me appreciate how perfectly this trip is orchestrated. You don’t have to worry about anything — we handle all the arrangements and all you have to focus on is having your transformations and a whole lot of fun.
Group Machu Picchu 1
Journeying with like minded travelers. Every year our groups bond in the most wonderful and amazing way. It’s so precious to be able to share these sacred experiences with other people who are on the path. It gives you a feeling of safety and security to be spending this special time with these special people. Not to mention making friendships that last a lifetime.

We need a female roommate. This will save you substantially from having to pay the Single Supplement for your own room. If you want to go and you would like a roommate, we have someone who needs a roommate. Please contact us as soon as possible.
If Machu Picchu is calling to you, heed the call! Come with us on this journey of a lifetime.

Martina says everything about the Peru trip was so “special and meaningful”
“This was such a special and meaningful trip. Whether you have been on a spiritual journey for years or are new to a lot of the concepts, this journey will open your mind to new ideas, concepts and perspectives about life in general as well as the meaning you make of it. There is no “religious” component to this trip, so it doesn’t matter if you are of any particular faith or no-faith – Jorge’s stories, legends and ceremonies will touch you, open your mind and provide for a new outlook that makes, as he puts it “the ordinary Extra-Ordinary”.
Everything was very well organized and communicated – we didn’t have to worry about a thing, but were very well taken care of. We could focus solely on the experience without any thought about the logistics, or when or where to show up. It was such a nice break from a busy life…
Some of the highlights from the trip: Oh, what to pick? Seeing Machu Picchu for the very first time brought tears of joy to every single eye in our group; the Summer Solstice Celebration was spectacular; I could have spent a week in Ollantaytambo; Amantini, where we enjoyed the family’s very caring hospitality, is an experience not to be missed; the experiences at Lake Titicaca were very unique which I will never forget.
The hotels we stayed at were fantastic: welcoming, lovingly decorated with the textiles and ceramics from the region, and had all the amenities you can think of. The food was delicious, no matter where we went!
As diverse as our group was in personalities, backgrounds and ages – travelers who sign up with Sedona Soul Adventures have a lot in common: An open mind, an innate curiosity, a willingness to learn and experience new things, and a strong desire to look for a deeper meaning in travel as well as life itself. Traveling with like-minded people makes such a difference. We easily connected with each other, had so much fun and laughter, and throughout the 2 weeks we have forged some true friendships that I believe will last for a long time.”

Egypt: the sacred and the profane

By the time you are reading this, we’ll be on the plane coming home from Egypt. It’s been such a tremendous 2 weeks and as I was thinking about it, it’s been such a study of the spiritual and the sacred, but we’ve also had so much fun doing everything.
We’ve all felt so safe and so welcomed, that part is the best. The Egyptians love Americans and everyone in the group was happily surprised at how warm and friendly everyone has been.
AbydosWe’ve seen the pyramids and the Sphinx and the amazing temples — Karnak, Luxor, Abydos, Isis Temple at Philae, Hathor Temple, Hatsepshut’s Temple, Abu Simbel. We also visited the Serrapium, the underground burial place of the sacred apis bulls. Here’s one of my favorite pictures that I took in the Temple of Abydos. The love between the Goddess Isis and her son Horus is so obvious from this carving and, of course, it’s these spiritual moments that are at the heart of the trip.
But we do all this other stuff that’s so much fun.

Galabaya Night_1On our Nile Cruise ship we have a “Galabaya Night” where we all dress up in Egyptian galabayas. This is me with our fantastic guide Raafat (on the right) and Mohammed Fayed, the owner of Guardian Travel on the left. One of the women in our group actually won the belly dancing contest!
Everyone agrees that, as always, Guardian Travel has been so amazing in taking care of us and making sure that every single detail of the trip has been incredible. Planes, buses, taxis, hotels, food, everything has been fantastic.

Woman With RugsThe shopping, as always, was incredible. We went to a rug making factory in Sakkara to see how they do this ancient art and many of us bought beautiful rugs of silk or wool. Here’s the other Debra in the group with some of these beautiful carpets. I told myself I wasn’t going to get another one, but I simply couldn’t resist!

HotAirBallonOne of the special treats was going on a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings at sunrise. I took this photo and didn’t realize that in the picture, the light from the sun looks like a balloon. It was such a perfect day, complete with a perfect landing.

PapyrusWe went to the Papyrus Institute in Luxor which is so fascinating. The ancient Egyptians invented the first paper and to see how they did it is so interesting.
The artwork on the papyrus is so beautiful. Scenes from the tombs, the Flower of Life, the Tree of Life and the Last Judgement are some of the most popular artwork. On the left of this photo, you can see the beautiful astrological calendar from the Hathor Temple at Dendara.

CamelsAnd of course, we rode camels to the Great Pyramid. Even after all these years, it gives me a thrill every time we come over the hill and there they are. It’s so staggeringly beautiful.

Group ShotHere’s a picture of some of the group in front of the pyramids.
All of the other elements have been perfect. The food is fantastic and I’m realizing I’m surprised I don’t have any pictures of us eating, since we were eating so much (I especially loved the waffles on our 5 day Nile cruise!). The weather has been extraordinary, warm and sunny and not too hot.

After I finish writing this I’ll be preparing for our 2 hours of private time just for our group inside the Great Pyramid. To be able to come here and do ceremony in this sacred place still makes me feel very humble and very grateful.
Thanks for letting me share this special journey with you. We’ll be going again same time next year (last 2 weeks of February) and I’d love to have you join me.
Wishing you a week filled with adventure,
Debra

Kissing the Sphinx

We’re here in Egypt on our annual pilgrimage. It’s been so wonderful already.
First of all, I want to say we are completely safe and we all feel completely safe. The Egyptians love Americans and they love seeing us because tourism has declined so much and we are definitely contributing to the Egyptian economy! Whenever they ask where we’re from and we say “America”, they say “we love Americans!”.
So far we have:
DebraKissingSphinxTutMask• Ridden camels to the Great Pyramid and then explored this amazing place
• Experienced the Valley Temple which is next to the Sphinx
• Seen the majestic Sphinx – how do you like the kissing?
• Went to an Egyptian oils shop and purchased some really exotic oils.
• We spent most of the day the next day exploring the Egyptian Museum where the wonders of King Tut are displayed. Seeing all the gold and all the jewelry and all the things he was buried with is so incredible. And then the rest of the Museum is jam packed with so many mummies (including mummies of cats and dogs and crocodiles!), sarcophagi, statues, etc., etc., it’s impossible to take it all in.
• Then on to the Khan el Khalili bazaar which has been part of Cairo for over 1000 years!
• We ate at a fantastic restaurant in the bazaar with wonderful falafel and koushari, an interesting Egyptian dish with noodles, fava beans, tomatoes, onions, lots of spices – yum!
Debra_Camel_New• Today we were in Sakkara, the home of the Steppe Pyramid. This is a picture of me in front of the Steppe Pyramid from last year – I love that camel!
• Then in Sakkara, we saw the Serrapium which is such a unique place. The ancient Egyptians worshipped the apis bull, huge animals which were considered sacred and which were mummified when they died. They were then placed in huge sarcophagi after the mummification. This place is underground and the energy is amazing. We did a wonderful ceremony here.
• Then it was off to the carpet store to see the amazing work that the Egyptians do in making silk carpets (as well as wool and cotton). I promised myself I wasn’t going to buy another rug, but I couldn’t resist!
Tomorrow we’ll visit the Mosque of Mohammed Ali, a Christian church and the oldest synagogue in Cairo. It’s so wonderful how the different faiths are represented within blocks of each other.
Then we’ll fly to Luxor tomorrow night to experience Karnak, the Luxor Temple and the Temple of Abydos. Next, we’ll board our cruise ship for our 5 day cruise down the Nile, stopping at temples along the way. More on all of that next week.
The best part is we’re having so much fun! Our guide Raafat is so knowledgeable and so entertaining, traveling with other like minded seekers is so inspiring, the food is great, the weather is perfect — Life doesn’t get much better than this.
Even though this is my 16th trip to Egypt (!), it’s always new. And amazingly, I always learn things I didn’t know before. But the most incredible part every time is being in the energy of this amazing place — and being able to share it with other like-minded people.
If Egypt is on your bucket list, think about joining us next year. We always go at the same time — the last 2 weeks in February, because the weather is so perfect. Everyone who is here is so happy they made the decision to come.
Sending you lots of love from Egypt,
Debra

Divorce Attorney's Relationship Checklist for Valentine's Day

RedHeartMany of you know that I was a divorce attorney for 20 years in Omaha. Then I came to Sedona in 1999, closed my law practice 6 months later and started Sedona Soul Adventures in 2001. Since then, our Couples Retreats have saved so many marriages (and spiced up so many more!). Isn’t it funny how that instant karma has worked out? I spent 20 years divorcing people, now I’ve spent 14 years helping them stay together!
After so many years of working with couples who were either divorcing, on the verge of divorce, or just trying to be more connected (and everything in between), I’ve seen the same patterns over and over again and they aren’t necessarily the things that books and magazines talk about. I’ve put together a Relationship Checklist for you as a Valentine’s Day gift. These are what I see as the most insidious things that cause the biggest problems (and issues that lead to problems) in a relationship. Some of them might not be the usual things that you think of. Take a look at yourself and at yourself within your relationship as you go through the checklist.
Do you respect each other?
Do you respect your partner and does he or she respect you? There’s a big difference between feeling a crazy kind of love for someone and deeply respecting them. I’ve seen so many couples who have a passionate love for each other, but when it comes right down to it, they don’t respect each other. Do you respect your partner? Do you feel respected by your partner? If you don’t, the relationship is on its way to being over.
If you have a healthy respect for each other, you give each other the benefit of the doubt even when things get tough. You’re quicker to forgive those little transgressions, knowing that you basically hold your partner in high esteem.
Do you like each other?
This may seem almost the same as respect, but it isn’t. You can like someone and not respect them because you don’t think they’re a good person. You can also respect someone because they hold high values, but you don’t like them.
Do you actually like your partner? Do you think they’re a good person, do you enjoy hanging out with them? Last year I spoke with a man who told me he was completely, totally surprised when his wife told him she wanted a divorce, he couldn’t believe it. Later, I found out they weren’t going on vacations together because it was too unpleasant. If you can’t even go on vacation together and have a good time, something is wrong! If you don’t like your partner, you’ve got a problem. If the thought of being with them when you’re 80 makes you wince, that’s telling you something.
If you genuinely like your partner and like spending time with them, you have a much greater chance that you are going to make it through the long haul and through difficult times and spend the rest of your lives together.
Do you play fair?
The way that you disagree with each other says so much about your relationship. Some psychologists believe they can predict the success or failure of a relationship simply by watching a couple have an argument about something.
When you disagree, do you stick to the subject you are disagreeing about, or do you bring up stuff that has nothing to do with what you’re arguing about? Do you find yourself using phrases like “you always do this…” or “you never do this”. Fighting about something other than the current issue is not fighting fair and leads to huge build ups of resentment. Resentment is poison to a relationship.
You can disagree and have an argument and still come from the basic love that you have for each other. Being respectful while you disagree, really listening and trying to understand the other person’s perspective and sticking to the subject at hand can actually bring you closer together as a couple.
Can you really talk to each other?
Does your partner “get” you? Can you talk to them about pretty much anything and have it be okay? Do they know all the little weirdnesses about you and love you all the same? Or do you hide things from them? Do you tell them how you truly feel? I spoke with a man a year ago who told me his 30 year marriage had come down to “I go along to get along”. He wanted to do a Couples Retreat, but his wife didn’t want to. I spoke with him again a few weeks ago and things are worse (things like this never get better unless they are dealt with). When your partner feels like they have to hide how they’re feeling and can’t be honest with you, they start to shut down emotionally. That’s when the love starts to stop.
When you know you are safe with your partner, that they will love you no matter what, love continues to grow and thrive.
Are financial issues a problem?
Financial issues show up in a number of ways — from there not being enough money, to one person being a spender and one person being a saver, to disagreements about how money should be spent. In this modern age, we also see a lot of situations where there is an imbalance, especially where the woman makes more than the man.
Money issues are a hot button for many people, and usually have a deep connection back to childhood. Money issues bring up all the different things we’ve already talked about — not communicating, not fighting fair, not liking the other person because they’re a miser (or a spendthrift), not respecting the other person because they’re not responsible with money, etc., etc. Money is usually just the tip of the iceberg of deeper problems below the surface.
When money isn’t an issue in your marriage, you’re free to bring in all kinds of abundance in your lives, not just financially but emotionally and spiritually as well. It indicates that everything is flowing as it should be.
Do you have each other’s back?
I attended a couples workshop in Sedona in 1999 and during a very emotional part of the workshop one of the men said to his wife, “I’ve got your back”. Later, we broke up into our male and female groups and as we women gathered, a number of us remarked at how much that had touched us. About half of us said (through tears) that we had never felt that way in our relationship.
It can be a tough world out there and knowing that there’s at least one person who has your back is an incredible and amazing gift. And I will tell you after all these years of working with couples, it’s something that I don’t see very often. There isn’t that deep level of trust of knowing that your partner will be there for you no matter what.
This trust, this knowing, seems to me to be the secret sauce of healthy relationships — really knowing that your partner will be with you through thick and thin. For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death parts you. It’s like a rare, exotic flower that must be cultivated and cared for.
My prayer for you is that all of your answers to the above questions were the “right” answers. That you have fabulous communication, you can be completely honest with each other, and there are no hidden agendas or resentments. If that’s not the case, I would urge you to do something about it and do it now. My experience is that these things only get worse over time. Once the milk starts to curdle there’s no turning back. It just smells worse and worse until you finally have to throw it out. And throwing it out is such a painful thing to do, when it’s your relationship that’s being thrown out.
We had a couple here awhile ago and he told me at the end of their Couples Retreat, that he thought it was hopeless and that he had already planned on filing for divorce when they returned home from Sedona. He had even hired the attorney, because he thought there was no way the marriage could be fixed. They came here for 4 days and their marriage was completely renewed. They both saw that at their core, they truly loved each other and they were focusing on all the wrong things. The marriage was completely saved and they came back 6 months later to spice it up even more. When you’ve got the love and the trust and the spice, you’ve got it all!
Even if all your answers feel like the “wrong” answers, they’re not! This is valuable information that is showing you where you need to put your attention. I want to tell you there is hope! We see it all the time. Come to Sedona and do a Couples Retreat. One of our Angel Guides will speak with each of you separately, really getting at what’s going on, what are the issues and what do both of you want? Then they’ll put together the perfect retreat that’s right for the two of you. Because each retreat is completely customized and because the sessions are all completely private (not in groups), you’ll get exactly what you need. It will bring you back into the love and trust and connection you’re craving.

Pyramids and Pharaohs in New York – living a Spirit-Centered life

I leave on Thursday for my annual Egypt trip – yikes! And the excitement has begun (isn’t it great that so much of the fun of a trip is the anticipation of it?)
I told you last week that every year I go to New York for a few extra days before the Egypt trip. I have rituals that I do each year:

  • I go to the Butterfly Exhibit at the Museum of Natural History
  • I go to a Broadway show (this year I’m seeing “Hamilton” – tickets are hard to come by, I’m so excited!)
  • I have a glass of champagne at the bar at the Waldorf Astoria
  • I go shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue

Having indulged in these earthly delights, I’m now ready for the most wonderful thing I do which is to go to the Egyptian Wing at the Metropolitan Museum. I went there for the first time in 1984 and even after all these years it’s thrilling.
Egypt_ExhibitThe Wing is comprised of 39 rooms on the first floor of the Met, with all of the treasures arranged in chronological order. This is the Temple of Dendur, a temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, which was given to the United States by the government of Egypt in recognition of the help the US gave in saving the Temple of Abu Simbel. The energy in this part of the Museum is electric, at least for me. Even though I’ve seen everything so many times, it seems like I find something new every time I go there or have some type of aha moment.
What I love most about this incredible collection is that it conveys the essence of ancient Egyptian life, which is that everything revolved around their connection with their spirituality.
For the ancient Egyptians, every part of life was a preparation for the afterlife. Every decision, every life choice, all aspects of their lives were lived with that focus.
This meant living your life in a way that would make it possible for you to go to what we call Heaven after your death. That meant being an honorable and good person and living your life in spiritual connection.
LastJudgementThe ancient Egyptians believed that at the time of your death your heart would be weighed against a feather. This papyrus is a depiction of the Last Judgment. You see this scene all over Egypt in carvings and temples and papyrus.
If your heart was lighter than the feather (meaning you had lived a good life and weren’t weighted down by evil), you would enter into Paradise and live out eternity with the Gods and Goddesses. However, if your heart was heavier than the feather, that meant you had not lived a good and honorable life and your soul would be devoured by the jackals. In the scene above, you can see that the person’s heart was lighter than the feather (whew!) and to the right, you can see Thoth, the god of writing and knowledge, noting this in what we would call the Akashic Records.
So if you died tomorrow and the Egyptians are right about the Last Judgment, what would happen with you? Would your heart be lighter than a feather? Would you be able to pass and party on with the Gods and Goddesses into eternity?
What if you lived your life with the idea that there is a higher purpose for your life? A greater knowing? A higher way to be?
We spend so much time focused on the day to day-ness of our lives. Doing our email, going to work, dealing with the kids, dealing with our partners, children, bosses, employees, doing housework, trying to do something fun on the week-ends, getting the car washed, cooking, cleaning, it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. It certainly doesn’t leave much time for connecting in with the highest part of ourselves and accessing the Divine.
Would your life be different if you put just a little bit of focus on your life as a spiritual person? I think it would. It’s amazing what happens when you come from that perspective even just a little bit.
You’re calmer.
You’re more relaxed.
You don’t worry as much.
You start to have an innate knowing that everything will work out.
Can you imagine having your life be calmer, more relaxed, with less worry and this basic trust that everything will be okay? It’s almost mind blowing to even think of living a life like that because almost no one does it.
We had a woman come here about a month ago to do a Sedona Soul Adventure. She has a demanding job and two demanding teenagers and a demanding husband. This was the first time she had ever done anything for herself in her entire life. Although she wanted to do a four day Soul Adventure, the most she was able to squeeze out from her busy life was three days and we told her that would be enough. When I went into the office to greet her during her Orientation, she got 3 phone calls in 15 minutes. One from her job, one from one of her children and one from her husband. This was a Friday and she was going to be here Friday, Saturday and Sunday and return home on Monday. To each of them she said something close to, “I love you, but you’re going to have to figure this out, I can’t do anything about it from here”. She got off the third phone call and started crying and saying “this is my life. This is why I don’t have any peace. I’m so afraid I’m going to go home and everything will be exactly the same and nothing will have changed. My nerves are shot, I can’t take this anymore, I’m just ready to run away.”
I invited her to take a deep breath and to stop focusing on what would happen when she got home. To just focus on how wonderful the next three days would be. Secretly, I shared her concern because I know what it’s like to have so many demands placed on you and to have people that you love and care about and a job that you care about pulling at you all the time.
Over the next 3 days, she had the most amazing experience. In her Enneagram session she discovered that she is a Two, a people pleaser who had the distorted belief that she has to do everything for everyone else in order to be loved. She said when she discovered that, it explained everything about how she does her life.  In her Emotional Clearing session, there was this old stuck energy left over from her childhood (where as the oldest girl she had to take care of everybody); the energy was cleared out and she said she felt “20 pounds lighter”.
But her breath session was the most amazing. She felt that she went completely into an altered state and suddenly her mother (who passed away 2 years ago and for whom she was still grieving) came to her in a vision. She said there was this instant feeling of forgiveness from her mother for things she’d been feeling guilty about. And then her mother conveyed to her (without words) that it was most important for her to take care of herself so that she could be there for her family in a balanced way. She “got it”, that she can take care of herself and still be a devoted wife and mother and effective at her job. She said she never felt so much love for herself in her entire life.
She had a delicious massage, did an amazing ceremony out on the Red Rocks and learned a meditation that she could take home and do in only 9 minutes each day. Her final Integration session put it all together and when I spoke with her as she was on the way to the airport she said, “I feel like a new woman. I’m so peaceful and calm and I know I can keep this going”.
She called me this week to say that she is completely amazed at how this has changed her life. She’s been home a month and doing the 9 minute meditation every morning (“I just get up 10 minutes earlier”) and she’s done another breath session since she’s been home. “Things still happen at work and with the kids and my husband, but it’s not driving me crazy anymore. I don’t feel like I have to do everything. It’s the most amazing thing. I just spend a little time each day focused on the spiritual side of my life and it makes all the difference because it affects all the areas of my life all day. My husband can’t believe it!” She said she feels more love for her husband and for her kids (and for herself!) than she ever has.
So without knowing it, she’s “walking like an Egyptian” (remember that old song?). She’s focusing on the spiritual side of her life and it’s making all parts of her life richer and fuller. She’s happier, more peaceful, more content, and her relationship with her husband and her children (and herself) is better. She said she feels like she’s even getting more work done in a faster amount of time! And she probably is. When we’re operating in connection on all the levels — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual — all areas of our lives just function better.
So as I’m walking around the Egyptian wing this Saturday I’ll be smiling and thinking about how wonderful it is when we start to bring a little bit of spiritual focus into our lives.
How about you? Would you like to be happier, more peaceful, more content and improve your relationships? It sounds like a tall order, but that’s exactly what happens when we live our lives in connection. Speak to one of our Angel Guides. They will connect with you and custom design a retreat that will bring you the peace and contentment you’re looking for.

Diane says she “never imagined she could be feeling so much lighter, clearer and overflowing with so much peace, joy, love and light”
“This was not only my very first retreat but also the first time going away completely alone. From the beginning of my journey to its completion, I was filled with such support… joy… and love.  All I can say is I never imagined after such a process I would be feeling so much lighter… clearer… and overflowing with so much peace… joy… love and light! What an amazing experience!”

The Machu Picchu trip just got better
Debra_JorgeThree new people have joined the Peru trip and they demonstrate one of the reasons why the trip is so wonderful – the amazing people who go. It’s so wonderful to spend 2 weeks not only with our amazing shaman, Jorge Luis Delgado, but also to be with other like minded adventurers who are interesting and fun and spiritually focused.
Last night I met with two of them, a fantastic couple who live in LaJolla, California. They just came here to do a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat and they had an incredible time. Over dinner and a bottle of wine we had the most wonderful conversation about spirituality, living our best lives, creating our own reality and this amazing world we live in.
Last week-end I had the most fun conversation with another woman who’s coming on the trip. We talked especially about the amazing ceremonies that we do on the trip and we had the most wonderful conversation about living a joy filled life.
So these are the kinds of people who come on this trip. Being with these kind of people is not only amazing and rewarding, but typically what we find is that many people form wonderful long-term friendships. I love it that a number of my own friends are people who I first met coming on my trips.
And if you don’t have someone to travel with, that’s not a problem. What always seems to happen on these trips is that we have a few couples but the majority are people traveling as a Single (even if they’re married or in a relationship) because their partner isn’t interested in Peru. And that’s what’s happening with this trip. We have two couples and the rest are Singles. So you’ll have lots of people to hang out with. Plus our groups are all in love with each other after 2 days, it’s so wonderful!

“Our sacred journey to Peru was more than we had hoped for, and was made all the more special by the people – Debra, Jorge Luis, and most importantly, the group of strangers that we met on the first day who became lifelong friends by the end of the two weeks. The trip was incredibly well-run, deeply spiritual and life-changing.”

Butterflies in NY – 60 days of living life

Next week I go to New York for our annual journey to Egypt. We all meet at JFK and then fly together to Cairo. I can’t believe it’s here already! This past year has gone so quickly!
Each year I always go to New York for a few extra days and one of the things I always do while I’m there is to go to the butterfly exhibit at the Natural History Museum. The exhibit is only there for a certain number of months each year and it’s incredible. You go into a small room that is very warm and humid and has hundreds and hundreds of butterflies. You can also see the butterflies in different stages — egg, caterpillar, chrysalis to fully formed caterpillar.

I love butterflies, not only because they are so beautiful and intricate but because they represent two things that I am consumed by – transformation and living a full life.
Transformation – A butterfly starts out as an egg and then becomes a caterpillar, this worm like creature that is moving around in the dirt. And then it suddenly transforms into this amazing, incredibly beautiful and awe-inspiring creature. A teacher of mine once said, “the butterflies know exactly when they are supposed to go within and begin the process of transformation”. It’s just like us. We can make a decision to transform our lives and our relationships. Even if we are feeling really awful and sluggish and down in the dirt, we can go within and we can be transformed!
Living a Full Life – Butterflies have a very short life, depending on the species. Some live only for a week or so, some Monarchs can live to be 9 months. The average is about one month. But what a month it is! Being able to fly around, being free, eating nectar, looking beautiful, going from flower to flower — that’s a pretty wonderful life.
Can you imagine how you would live your life if you only had a few months? I’ll bet you’d be living it differently from how you’re living it right now. But wait — that’s the whole problem. We think because we have years, instead of months, that it’s different, that we have plenty of time. Plenty of time to somehow start having a wonderful life of feeling free. But of course you know that’s not true.
This past week I watched again Steve Jobs’ commencement address that he gave at Stanford in 2005. In it he says “live every day as if it’s your last because one day you’re going to be right”. Ironically, he says in the speech that he had just beat cancer, but tragically, we all know that turned out to not be true. He died 6 years later at the age of 56.
So how about you? Are you living your life like a butterfly? Feeling Free? Flying? Eating Nectar? Feeling beautiful? If not, you should call us.
A Sedona Soul Adventure is all about transformation so that you can live your best life. Speak with one of our Angel Guides. They’ll connect deeply with you (or both of you, if it’s a couple) and get to the heart of whatever is holding you back or causing you problems. Then they’ll custom design the perfect retreat to take you from where you are to where you want to be.
