That’s me on the camel! Egyptologists believe this was the first pyramid ever built in Egypt, by the Pharaoh Djoser with his brilliant architect, Imhotep.
See the beautiful temple of Hathor, goddess of love and beauty and creativity. In recent years, the Egyptians have started cleaning thousands of years of dirt and grime off the temple walls and the colors are absolutely fantastic. And finally, is that an electric light bulb depicted in one of the carvings in the crypt of the temple?
Abydos is one of the most beautiful temples in all of Egypt and amazingly, it is built on top of the ancient Osirion temple (no one knows how ancient). One of my favorite questions is, why are there carvings of a tank, a helicopter and a submarine on the temple walls? Abydos is the setting for one of my favorite books, “In Search of Om Seti”, the true story of Dorothy Eady and her cosmic love affair with Pharaoh Seti which spanned thousands of years and multiple dimensions. I had a past life in Abydos many years ago and the first time I came here (in this lifetime), I suddenly had tears of joy. I wasn’t anyone famous – I was a minor priestess who arranged flowers for the temple ceremonies. Watch to the end to see the incredible Flower of Life that is in the walls of the Osirion.
Karnak is one of the most astounding places on earth. Karnak was built over a period of 2200 years and is immense. The Avenue of Sphinxes, the huge columns in the Hippostyle Hall and the beautiful obelisks are amazing. I also tell the story of hearing voices here during my first trip in 1983.
Hatsepshut was a female Pharaogh and ruled as a man, even wearing the false beard that Pharoahs wore. See her beautiful funerary temple and one of the most beautiful sculptures of Hathor, the goddess of love and beauty. And how wonderful to find an archeological dig going on – they’re still finding stuff in Egypt!
Some of the most beautiful carvings in all of Egypt are at this amazing temple, dedicated to the falcon headed god Horus – son of Osiris and Isis and husband of Hathor. Isn’t it interesting that you can hear so many birds chirping in the background in this temple dedicated to the god who has the body of a bird!
We take a boat ride to this beautiful temple that is on the island of Philae. Dedicated to Isis, the mother goddess, the mother of all mothers.
The biggest statues in the world are here and it’s so overwhelming to round the corner and see them. Apologies in advance for the bad sound on this one (and that I’m huffing and puffing – no one should ever rush in Egypt).
It’s so amazing to go up in the hot air balloon and see the Egyptian treasures below – Hatsepshut’s Temple, the Rameseum and we were even lucky enough to cross the Nile. You never know which way the wind is going to blow!
On our cruise down the Nile, our ship takes us to this fantastic temple which is unusual in that it is dedicated to two gods — Horus (the son of Osiris) and Sobek, the crocodile god. A reminder to us to love and embrace both our higher aspects and our shadows. Appropriately, the temple is lit at night and is so incredibly beautiful.
