Eleven of Them Rented a House Together

Return to Egypt — Sacred VIP Tour  │  February 15–28, 2027

Something happened this year that I want to tell you about, because I don't think I could have made it up.

Eleven people from our Egypt trip this past February rented a big Airbnb here in Sedona and spent five days together last month. Two more really wanted to come but their work situation didn’t make it possible. While they were here, most of them did sessions. Some of them did full-on retreats. They hiked and cooked and stayed up too late and did all of it for no reason other than that they wanted to be around each other again. These are people who just last February got on a plane to Cairo as strangers!

You may be sitting there with the same worry I hear all the time, and it usually comes from someone who travels alone and likes it that way: “What if I don't like the group?” I understand it. Two weeks is a long time to be stuck with people you didn't choose.

But I have watched the opposite happen on every single trip I've led. Within about forty-eight hours everybody is in love with each other — I say it so often that my staff could finish the sentence for me — and I've long since stopped trying to explain it.

Part of it is what you go through together. Once you've sat in ceremony beside someone inside a temple, and maybe cried beside them, you can't go back to making small talk about the weather. Something has already passed between you.

And part of it is February 23, which is the day on the Nile with nothing on it. No temple, no bus, no early wake-up — just the boat and the river and the farms and the villages going by, and the whole day to do nothing with it. Some people sleep. Some people get a massage. Some people sit with a journal and try to put words to what happened in the last week. That is the day the friendships actually get made.

We keep this trip to twenty-two people, and every one of our trips in recent years has sold out. This will be my twenty-seventh, and I'd love for it to be your first… or your next.

The whole journey is on the page below, day by day, along with how to reserve your place.

Their Fights Didn't Simmer. They Detonated.

Up above, it was strangers who became family in two days. This one is about two people who loved each other and could become enemies in about two seconds.

At work, Maya was the one everybody turned to when things fell apart. She saw the problem before anyone else did and moved fast to fix it, and when Maya was involved, things got handled. At home, that same vigilance turned volatile.

She grew up in a house that bent itself around her father's drinking. Some nights he was warm and full of promises, other nights he was unpredictable or simply gone, and she learned to read the air the second she walked through the door. Her Core Wound was I don't matter, and her rule for surviving was simple: if you stay on top of everything, fewer bad things happen.

Evan grew up being bullied, and not once or twice but relentlessly. He came home from school humiliated, hoping someone would step in, and his parents told him to toughen up and handle it himself. So he learned to disappear, and underneath it all he carried I never get it right.

So when Maya pressed him, or pointed out what hadn't been done right, his chest tightened and the shame came in fast, and sometimes he snapped back, sometimes he shut down completely, and often he did both.

Their fights didn't simmer. They detonated — voices up within seconds, old grievances pulled out like weapons, doors slamming — and afterward they would lie in the same bed without touching, both of them wondering how something that started so small could end up feeling so dangerous.

Here's what they couldn't see from inside it. Maya wasn't trying to dominate Evan. She was trying to feel safe. And Evan wasn't trying to abandon Maya… he was trying to survive the same flood of shame he had felt as a boy, when nobody stood up for him.

So we didn't start by asking them to talk it out, because when two people are that flooded, talking only pours gasoline on the fire. We cleared the Core Wounds first. Then, before anybody went near the content of a fight, they made agreements: when things started to rise, they would pause and name what was happening, and if one of them needed space, they would schedule the return instead of disappearing into silence.

They even chose one word to stop the spiral: Hardening. The first time Maya felt herself hardening and stopped in the middle of a sentence, it felt terrifying to her, like dropping her armor, and every instinct told her to push through. But she stayed. And when Evan heard the word, he stayed too, instead of withdrawing.

And when things were already hot, Evan learned to place his hand gently on the middle of her back, with her permission, and say, “I've got you. You're safe. I'm here. You're not doing this alone.” Maya broke down right there, not because the problem was solved, but because her nervous system finally felt protected.

Later Maya told us, “I thought we were broken. But we're not broken. We were just… wounded.”

So let me ask you: do you know the exact moment in a fight when it stops being about the fight? And what would happen if the two of you had a word for it?

A word and a hand on the back are yours to borrow, starting tonight. But Maya and Evan could only use them because the old house and the old schoolyard had been cleared first, and that clearing is what our more than 50 Master Practitioners do, in a retreat custom-designed around the two of you.

Can you imagine stopping a fight halfway through a sentence… and reaching for each other instead?

If that's the fight in your house, give one of our Soul Guides about an hour on the phone. Tell them how it goes when it goes wrong, and if a retreat is right for you, they'll design one around it.
