In Praise of Change

From Debra
“In Praise of….Change”
You may have noticed that we have changed our newsletter. It’s been the same for many years and we wanted to make it easier to read and more accessible for the parts you’re interested in. And one of the changes you will see is that each week I’ll be writing “In Praise of…” something. And since we’re changing everything around,  this week I’m writing in praise of change.
I’ve read many times that the definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing and expecting to get different results. And it’s true. That is completely insane.
I know, because I was “insane” for a number of years. I was desperately unhappy working as an attorney for 20 years and I kept telling myself that “somehow” things were going to get better. I even made little changes (working less, hiring other people to work for me) that was more like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titantic. I could re-arrange the chairs til I was blue in the face, I was still sinking.
I would pray and meditate and say to God “I’m so unhappy, please tell me what to do?” and I would hear this voice that would say “You need to leave your law practice” and my immediate response would be “I can’t do that!” “I’ve got a mortgage payment and a car payment and credit card debt” and “what else would I do?” and “I can’t just leave”.
Luckily, I finally came to Sedona in January of 1999 and it completely changed my life. I knew I had to leave my law practice. I knew I had to do something else. I knew I needed to change how I was doing my life.
That change took a lot of time and a lot of energy and a lot of commitment. Many people in my family thought I was nuts.
But wow, how amazing it’s been. And looking back I can see how it really all started with just one change. And then that one led to the next. And then the next. It always just seemed like the logical next step. It was never more than I could do at that moment. And that’s how it can be. The change doesn’t have to be this giant thing that we can’t possibly do. It’s connecting in, getting a nudge about what needs to be changed and then taking the next logical step. Even if it’s a baby step.
I would like to ask you an important question: What is one small change you could make right now that could start you on the road to a happier life? I’d love to here your answer – Click here to let me know.
And I can tell you after 14 years of experience, a huge first step toward making change in your life can be doing a Sedona Soul Adventures retreat. It can release the blocks that are keeping you from living your best life and set you on the path to achieving the peace and happiness you’re craving. Click here to speak to one of our Angel Guides — they’ll connect with you (or both of you if it’s a couple) about what’s going on, what’s happening, what you want to have happen and they’ll custom design a retreat that will transform your life or your relationship. I took 5 years to start listening that I needed to make a change. Are you go into to wait that long? I hope not!
