Richard Saw Something I Couldn't

Return to Egypt — Sacred VIP Tour  │  February 15–28, 2027

We were standing inside the Temple of Abydos — the temple many people consider the most sacred in all of Egypt — when Richard suddenly turned to me.

“Give me your phone. Give me your phone.”

He took a few photographs. Then he said, “I saw this energy.”

I hadn’t seen anything at all, and I have been walking into that temple for a very long time.

When we looked at the pictures there was a glow around one of our travelers’ heads. Not a lens flare, not a reflection off the stone — and nobody has touched those photographs.

We showed them to Raafat, our Egyptian guide, who reads hieroglyphics and has forgotten more about those temples than I will ever know.

He looked at it for about two seconds and said, “That’s her ba.”

In ancient Egyptian belief the ba was the part of the soul that held who you actually are — your character, your individuality, the thing that makes you you and nobody else. They drew it as a bird with a human head, because unlike the rest of the soul it could travel freely, moving in and out of tombs and temples, between this world and the divine.

Richard saw it. I didn’t. The camera did.

I think I understand why it happened at Abydos, because Abydos did something to me too. The first time I walked into that temple, back in 2000, I burst into tears before I understood what was happening, and it was years before I learned why: I had been there before. Not as anyone important — a low-level priestess whose job was arranging the flowers for the ceremonies. I know exactly how that sounds the first time you hear something like that. I was a divorce attorney in Omaha for over twenty years. Temples like Abydos were designed so moments like this could happen.

That is what I mean when I say this is NOT sightseeing. A tourist goes to see the temples. A spiritual traveler goes to feel them.

So here is where Abydos sits in February. We go back on February 21, six days in, when the group has already stopped being strangers — on twenty-six trips I have watched that happen within about forty-eight hours, every single time, and I still don’t fully understand it.

That same day we have a private visit to the Hathor Temple at Dendera, with no other tourists, and earlier in the week we spend an entire day inside the new Grand Egyptian Museum.

And on February 27 comes the part everyone has been waiting for: a healing ceremony between the paws of the Sphinx, which is closed to the public, and then two full hours inside the Great Pyramid with the doors closed behind us.

The Queen’s Chamber first, then the King’s Chamber for our ceremony of resurrection and renewal. No crowds, no clock, nobody hurrying you along, just our own group and Raafat.

This February will be my twenty-seventh trip. We keep it to twenty-two people, because ceremony inside a chamber only works when the room is small enough to hold everyone in it, and every one of our trips in recent years has sold out.

Everything is on the page below, including how to reserve your place. I’d love to have you come with me. Let’s see what happens for you.

In ancient Egyptian belief, the Ba is essentially the soul. In this ancient temple, her soul literally showing itself.

He Wasn't Ignoring You

(Article Based in Part on Chapter 10 of Our New Book, High-Vibe Relationship — coming soon)

Renata opened the door and the smell of burnt cheese drifted toward her. Mark was on the couch in his sweatpants, yelling at the screen, empty beer bottles at his feet. No flowers, no card, no candles — not even a glance in her direction.

Her stomach dropped. He had forgotten their anniversary.

And in a flash she wasn’t standing in that doorway anymore. She was eight years old again, standing alone at the school talent show, waiting for parents who never arrived to watch her sing. It made her feel forgotten, and worse than that, it made her feel unseen and unimportant.

So she attacked, the way she had her whole life — criticizing, accusing, shaming. And the moment Mark heard her tone his own programming took over automatically: protect, deny, survive. He told her she was making a big deal out of nothing, that it was just a date. But underneath, a much older voice was whispering something else entirely. You did forget. You screwed up. You’re a failure. She’s going to leave you just like your mom left your dad.

Neither of them was actually present anymore. Her Core Wound said I don’t matter, his said I’m not good enough, and the anniversary that should have been a celebration had turned into a battleground.

That part you may recognize. Here is the part almost nobody explains to couples until they are already in trouble.

Boxes and webs

Mark Gungor has a hilarious video called, “A Tale of Two Brains,” and underneath the humor it points at something most couples recognize immediately, which is that men’s and women’s brains tend to work quite differently.

A man’s brain tends to work like a set of boxes, and each box holds exactly one thing. Work is a box. Sports is a box. Dinner is a box, and the relationship is a box. When he is inside one of them the others stay closed, and the boxes do not touch — so when Mark was in the football box, the box marked “us” was not open. That is what “not even a glance” actually was. It wasn’t a verdict on Renata. It was a closed box.

A woman’s brain is more like a web, where everything connects to everything else. A simple dinner conversation can light up strands that touch the kids, the money, the intimacy and the future all at once, which is exactly how Renata could stand in a doorway and be at a talent show thirty years ago in the very same second.

Neither one is wrong. They are two different ways a brain has been wired, and once you understand the difference you can stop taking it personally.

Mark did not forget the anniversary because Renata doesn’t matter to him, and Renata did not explode because she is difficult. Two old wounds took the wheel that night, and two very different brains made it worse.

So let me ask you honestly:

  • When he doesn’t look up, do you hear you don’t matter — or a closed box?
  • And when you need to talk something through, does he know that’s how you settle, not how you attack?

Understanding the wiring helps, and I want you to have it. But it will not clear the gunk underneath, and the gunk is what turned a forgotten date into that night. That is the work we do here, with a team of over 50 Master Practitioners and a retreat that is custom-designed around exactly where the two of you are. We find what each of you is actually carrying, and we clear it.

Can you imagine no longer taking it personally? Can you imagine not continuing to have the same fight over and over?

It starts with about an hour on the phone with one of our Soul Guides, where they listen to where the two of you honestly are, and if a retreat is right for you they design one around it.

Set up a call with a Soul Guide.
